Have the Bombers narrowed the search?

You may find some comfort in the last couple of paragraphs in this story:

“The rumour mill out of Winnipeg has Calgary Stampeders offensive coordinator George Cortez and defensive coordinator Chris Jones on the short list for the Blue Bombers head coaching vacancy.”

Yeah, huge comfort.

(keeping fingers crossed, hoping GM stays in Hamilton)

Reading more from across the country, this one is maybe not quite so “comforting.” Read under the heading “Latest on Winnipeg:”

Rod Peterson: Voice of the Riders and the Pats

Blue Bomber voice Bob Irving reports the shortlist for the team's VP of Football Operations includes three names;

Brendan Taman, Joe Mack and Jim Barker.

Irving goes on to say if Taman gets the job

[he didn’t, he went to Calgary]

he would likely hire Greg Marshall as his coach

but if Barker’s hired, Barker would lean toward
Stamps D-coordinator Chris Jones as H.C…

This one is a bit more comforting.

Oddly enough, I spoke to Greg Marshall on Monday morning. Not wanting to grill him with questions in a public place, (Optometrist's Office) I simply said that from a standpoint of personal greed, I wanted him to remain our defensive coordinator, but I would certainly understand if he decided to better himself by accepting the Head Coach position in Winnipeg or for that matter, anywhere else.

He indicated with a very warm smile that things were still up in the air and thanked me for being a fan.

Like most fans, I'd hate to lose Greg Marshall.

Two reporters in Winnipeg and one in Regina are today reporting that Brendan Taman has been offered the GM job in Regina and is expected to accept within the next day or two. That would take him out of the Winnipeg picture and he was the most likely, by far, of the candidates for the Bombers' GM position to choose Marshall as HC. Very comforting!
