Hamilton Tiger-Cats 2025

Since we’re already into discussing a change at GM, next years draft etc. I thought next season deserved its own thread. Crash did start a separate one specifically for 2025 Free agency so feel free to keep posting there

With so few TiCat posts this time of year, it is a good idea to minimize the number of TiCat threads. Thanks.

Hopefully the Ti-Cats, pickup Tyrell Richards in free agency. He look good atbeither WLB or MLB.

Agree except he’s been injured for probably close to 3/4 of his time in Mtl. Got a bit more playing time in this year mostly on specials but some defence as well. For the right price they could look at him on a one year contract as a depth guy but don’t count on him as a full time starter for the ratio. If that happens then it’s a bonus.

There was a previous list of TiCats thought, about a month ago, to be pending free agents. I believe it was put together by Crash, and was followed by some exchanges, in this forum, which led to the removal, from the list, of Luther Hakunavanhu and Casey Sayles, both of whom were, in fact, signed for '25.

The differences, I note, between that, which I kept a copy of, and Egbert’s link, above, are:

Siriman Bagayogo, Kyle Wilson, and Lawrence Woods were all on the previous list, but not on this one, while Will Sunderland is on this new list, but was not on the earlier one. Marc Liegghio, on the first list, has since had his contract extended for two more seasons and is, accordingly, not on the new list.

Here is a updated depth chart with the 3 down nation article free agent list off to the right so that everyone sees what we are so far signed.

So Woodmansey signed a two year deal apparently 2024-2025.
So we only have to re-sign Beard to keep the whole starting O-line for 2025

Thats good news wonder whats taking them.so long to sign beard

If this list is accurate then with only 18 pending FA’s we should be in great shape compared to other teams who have close to double of the FA’s that we have .

Taking a closer look at that list with my personal thoughts on
who I would re-sign and who I would let go . I’ve divided them into 3 categories ( re-sign , on the bubble and bye-bye) with 6 players in each grouping .

Definite re-signs…

Ante Litre -rb (Cdn)
David Beard - c (Cdn)
Steven Dunbar - wr (Amr)
Kiondre Smith - wr (Cdn )
B. O’Leary-Orange - wr (Cdn)
Nick Usher - de (Amr)

On the bubble…

Jonathan Moxey -lb/db (Amr)
Evan Johnson - ol (Cdn)
Enock Makonzo - lb (Cdn)
Will Sutherland - db (Amr)
Carthell Flowers-Lloyd - lb (Amr)
Richard Leonard - db (Amr)

Bye-Bye

James Butler - rb (Amr)
James Tuck - fb (Cdn)
Joel Figueroa - ot (Amr)
Tyler Ternowski - wr (Cdn)
David Menard - de (Cdn)
Trevor Hoyte - lb (Cdn)

It’s Ante Litre…

I’m surprised that Leonard is “on the bubble”. He’s on my “GTFO List” just under Figs and Tuck…

I saw a recent interview with Beard and I wasn’t left feeling great about the likelihood of him being back. The general message as I understood it was … I have loved my time here in Hamilton, the organization and my teammates are first class all the way, but there’s just a lot of parts to making the decision of where next.

I hope I’m wrong, but it sounded like he was saying it was great here, nothing bad to say, it just isn’t where I want to be, not because there’s anything wrong here, I just want to live there (wherever there is).

Going through your list.

Definities:
Litre (yes),
Beard (i would be #1 over anyone to resign)
Dunbar if price is right
K.Smith or BOO

Here is my thought process on the WRs:

We have White, Wooden, Bridges, Luther, Patmon, you bring Dunbar and say K. Smith back i rather use BOO or Smith which 1 of the 2 we dont bring back and use that $ and draft a rookie because then its 70k for a rookie from the draft.

Heres my thing:

Joel and Butler gone thats 300-350k ish savings right there, invest that on the D, regardless of LB or Secondary.

I know we need some help on Dline on the right DE as Barlow, Hendrix, Sayles are already starting.

The field side right now is Woods III and Bagayogo at CB i would rather invest that 300-350k im sure you could get 3 starters for that money get 2 secondary and a LB. As far as E. Johnson on OL replace him with a draft choice.

So far with the draft rankings. Keep in mind we have #2 overall unless pick is traded.:

  1. Kurtis Rourke or the QB from WL will go at #1 to Calgary. They would be dumb not to.
  2. Damien Alford WR Canadian from Utah (No Stats transfered from Syracuse)
  3. Paris Shand DL Louisana State Toronto (9gp 18 DT 4 Solo 14 Assist 3 TFL 1 Sack)
  4. Eric Schon - OL Duke Barrie
  5. Jackson Findlay DB Western (11gp 34 Solo 29 Asssist 63 total tackles 1 TFL 5 yards, 1 FF 1 FR)
  6. Nolan Ulm - WR Eastern Washington (4gp 7 REC 56 Yards 1 TD)

Smith coming off a rookie deal at 70k or so im seeing him maybe 90ish k deal. if you bring back Dunbar you have to go rookie at WR to save money its either BOO or Smith with a rookie if you bring Dunbar back.

He’s an Alberta boy born and bred so maybe he has designs on signing back home with either Calgary or his old team Edmonton . He would be a definite loss if we lose him but sometimes unfortunately there are other factors involved that are personal such as family etc .

If Harvey goes to Edm as GM i can see some FAs going with him with Beard being one of them.

Litre fixed . As for Leonard I honestly don’t expect him back as he will be 34 next year and needs to be replaced . It’s why I put him on the bottom of my bubble list .

Well if we lose Beard then you would have to think that would make Evan Johnson a must re-sign priority as his replacement .

Found it, it’s only 53 seconds and I’m not sure really sure why it exists at all:

Maybe I’m reading into it more than I should. I would really have liked for him to say I want to be back and hope we can get something done. Lots of praise, but wishy washy IMO.

After those 2 losses when our O line let penetration up the middle stop our RB on critical, late goal line rushing TD atttempts, maybe Milanovich wants a change at Center?

My list would look different:

Class of his own - break the bank…
David Beard - c (Cdn)

Definite re-signs…
Ante Litre -rb (Cdn) - versatile and talented
Nick Usher - de (Amr) - versatile and talented
B. O’Leary-Orange - wr (Cdn) - clutch plays far outweighed occasional miscues, very interested to see more
Tyler Ternowski - wr (Cdn) - I know many don’t agree, but he’s a great special teams player and a rock solid backup WR when called upon; also healthy this season

Happy to re-sign, not opposed to taking a look outside for better…
Steven Dunbar - wr (Amr) - capable, replaceable
Kiondre Smith - wr (Cdn ) - capable, replaceable
Will Sutherland - db (Amr) - I’d like to see him get a shot out of training camp unless Dantzler comes back and wins the job

Very interested in having back as Special Teams players at or near league minimum…
Carthell Flowers-Lloyd - lb (Amr)
James Tuck - fb (Cdn) - do not let him carry the ball!
Trevor Hoyte - lb (Cdn)

Prefer they move on…
Jonathan Moxey -lb/db (Amr) - unless they move him to halfback where he belongs
Evan Johnson - ol (Cdn) - maybe stays as a depth guy

Bye-Bye, can’t see a scenario where they’re back…
James Butler - rb (Amr) - no chance
Joel Figueroa - ot (Amr) - no chance
David Menard - de (Cdn) - maybe back as the 8th or 9th DLman at league minimum?
Enock Makonzo - lb (Cdn) - may never play again
Richard Leonard - db (Amr) - he’s not getting younger or better and he’s not good enough now
