The tie is a FG plus 4 possessions away. Have to believe he just wanted to extend the game at home. The way the Cats were moving the ball I don’t think many would have blamed him for going for the win at that point.

I would have. Having said that, until PI was called, the Cats were going to kick to tie in a similar situation in OT

The Ticats have surrendered the fewest sacks in the League, so I dont get your point, unless you simply irrationally hate BLM…

Lol no I dont. Strong reaction to my comment.

When we first brought Bo in, many people were saying he was washed up, Calgary knew he was done etc. I disagreed with that take then and still do now.

Bo can still throw no doubt.

My comment stems from the 1st half before the miracle comeback. I was simply observing how Bo doesn’t scramble vs. How Rourke DOES scramble, at one point he evaded 3-4 tacklers near his own goal line and made a completion.

Bo doesn’t do that.

We only won that game because the team including Bo were PERFECT in the 2nd half. In other words, we needed a statistically improbable performance to eek out a win in OT. How many games can we expect perfection? Not many is my guess.

How many games can you expect wins with a more well rounded performance?

It wasn’t so many years ago our O line was critized on these boards for not providing enough pass protection and more mobile QBs were rendered ineffective.

We’re lucky so far with health this year.

But what does out offense look like if 1 or 2 Oline men go out long term?

Heck, nevermind injuries, a QB simply being able to move around a bit more then Bo opens up more pass opportunities on the days the recievers cant get open on their own as it’ll draw at least 1 defender off a reciever.

Nothing against Bo. It was a vintage performance on Friday.

I just don’t think that style is sustainable long term.

And MY opinion is that mobile, scrambling QBs suffer more lower-body injuries than pocket passers. More chances for concussions, etc.

Bo rolls out when he needs to, he DOES evade tackles in the pocket, runs for the sticks when absolutely needed, and has remained healthy all season.

VAJ was injured and missed time. Same with Ford. Rourke missed half a season due to a Lisfranc injury while he was scrambling/running two years ago. Masoli has had three season-ending injuries (one by Marino, but the point stands).

I completely agree with all of this and that’s why guys like Anthony Calvillo and Ricky Ray couldn’t make it in this league.

Traditionally and statistically speaking, the teams with the pocket passers win championships because the O-line and recievers and running backs are built around them for success.
Danny Mac, Calvillo, Ray , BLM quickly come to mind.
Even QBs that were scramblers early in their careers tended to win their championships when they developed into a more 80/20 pocket/ run ratio style.
Dunnigan, Allan, Burris, and Reilly come to mind.
Flutie seemed to be able to do both equally well his whole career and is sort of his own category.
