A step in the right direction.

I will believe it when I see it as it is still Moncton for me.

I as well will beleive it when I see it but as far as my choice goes I prefer Halifax for the CFL.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

this is too funny.

They still havent settled the stadium issue and the fall out from that. Why would anyone in their right mind give anything to Hamilton in the next decade?

Not really worried about anything Hamilton in this thread. But as far as Hamilton and their potential new stadium goes I hope for all the best for them.

Hey old man, it's time to get your eyes checked! That says Halifax, not Hamilton.... (not to say that I wouldn't agree with you if it did say Hamilton).

hey,

I'd like to know why you figure Halifax is a better place for a team than Moncton!..?

oops

Keep forgetting that there is such a place as Halifax :? :?

Oh well, I had a good laugh anyhow

The problem with Moncton being able to support a CFL team as I see it would be their small population base (125,000). Sure Touchdown Atlantic sold out incredibly quick and it was a great time. That was for 1 game though not 10 or 11. I'm sure there would be a base of fans in Moncton that would attend most every game but not enough to sell 20,000- to 25,000 tickets every game. I think in order to achieve this there would need to be alot of fans willing to travel from away and I just can't see this happening 10 or 11 times a year. I travelled 4 hours to attend the Moncton game but would I do it 10 or 11 times a year? No. Maybe I'd take in 2 regular season games a year and a playoff game if they hosted one. Halifax is approaching 400,000 population and should be able to generate a larger fan base from within the HRM and not need to rely on fans travelling from away quite as much. Also there would no doubt be a larger pool of corparate support to draw from in Halifax. These are just my opinions, am I wrong or right? well thats open for debate of course. I do beleive though that if Halifax currently had a stadium equal to or larger in size to what Moncton has the CFL would be focusing on Halifax and not Moncton hands down.

ok got some good valid reasons.

they say that Moncton, may have a smaller population yes.. but they're closer to a number of other populated areas and would be able to draw from them too.

Anything that might lead to the construction of a badly needed stadium in that region is a great thing. Even if only CIS plays their to begin with. It can always be expanded on later

The population of the Halifax metro area is greater than the population of the metro areas of Moncton, Saint John, Fredericton, and Charlottetown combined.
I think the fact that Husky Stadium at St. Mary's is in such bad shape will help push the stadium issue. It is bad enough not to have a CFL team. It would be terrible to lose CIS football as well.

Have Halifax and Moncton compete with their building of stadiums and give both cities a team. New Brunswick (pop @750,000) versus Nova Scotia (pop @940,000) would make for a good rivalry.

Two major reasons why Moncton is miles ahead and I saw for myself during the week there.
The people want a team and equally important the political will for the very forward thinking politicians of the city and province.
Like Don Cherry said here yesterday about the left wing kooks, Halifax is also well known for its politicians.

maybe they would like to send a couple of good ones our way

I am starting to beleive this can happen. Mayor Kelly really seems like he wants this to become a reality and is taking the initiative upon himself to make this work.

The combination of strong poll support for public investment in a stadium, the terrible state of Husky Stadium, the situation with Moncton's stadium, and Canada's bid for the Women's 2015 FIFA tournament make this probably the best opportunity for Halifax to build a stadium.
I also read that Mayor Kelly was on the news selling the positives of investing in a stadium.

Here is a look at the recently released stadium renderings released by Events Nova Scotia. I think this was very hastily put together as the time line was pretty tight to come up with something for the Dec 24'th deadline. I'm hopeful that should a stadium actually materialize from all this that it will be better than what this rendering shows.

Those renderings look soccer-specific like BMO Field not to mention its only 9500 legacy seats so its another Stade de Moncton and hardly CFL ready. I’ll get excited when there’s talk of partners to bring it up to CFL standards. Unfortunately, those partners might well include my Tiger-Cats.
