Breaking news: It didn't work, but the Argonauts tried to get Doug Flutie to start tonight's game.
He might have won, because he's that good, but it's just so funny to see the Argos with an injured 42 years old Damon Allen, trying to get a 44 years old Flutie.
Allen only has records cause he played a lot. He was never as good as either Moon or Flutie, or even Dunigan or many others who dont have the numbers cause they didnt play nearly as long. Go by season numbers average (rushingpassingrating) and he is not in the top 3 in any of them.
Darren said during the telecast how Doug has not ruled out against coming.
It sounded it was more of a $ reason then his alleged inability to perform. Now with no Wynn, who knows. If he did sign for next weekends game, I would bet there would be a spike in attendance, unlike Ricky.
I am not sure Red, coming off the bench he did OK, but to throw him in as a starter, just like Wynn, may be a mistake. Especially since the team has long term plans for Crouch. Earlier these past weeks Pinball and Austin said he was a long term project. Plus, if he were to start and then bomb, it may do a number on his mind.
Argotom this is the time you have to let this guy go out and do his thing if he can not get it done then you know where you stand! The kid showed great composure! He needs reps to learn now is the time!
Unless they sign Doug and since Wynn is likely out with a head injury, they may not have a choice.
Damon is at least two weeks away, so I am not sure you push him with his age.
At 5'4, they could use somebody big to throw me forward with the ball. I'd probably gain 10 to 12 yards a play. And it would be entertaining for the fans.
Wait a minute. I think I have something here. If Saskatchewan hired a midget, Chris Szarka could throw him, with the ball, for a good 15 yards everyplay. Booyah! :rockin:
