Grey Cups without their Starting QB

Examples of Grey Cup games without their starting Quarterback. I can think of 4.

2024 TOR Kelly - West Final
2019 HAM Masoli - Week 7 lost
2007 WPG Glenn - West Final lost
1993 WPG Dunigan - Week 16 lost

First two lost, even tough Edmonton had Damon Allen to replace Dunigan.

Could it be that the Edmonton Eskimos during their dynasty years started at least ONE of those 5 Cups without the QB who started in the Western Final? Not that they would’ve lost a step… Wilkinson was backed up by Warren Moon, then later Warren Moon was backed up by Wilkinson. You get the picture.

1987 was close. Dunigan injured early (2nd quarter?) and Damon Allen came in for the win over Toronto.

2021 is a weird one.

Masoli benched for Evans. Then Evans injured in the 1st Q for Masoli.

I think Bruce Lemmerman was in there for the first couple of the five.

That was in the run up to the 5 in a row in '73-'77. 1978 was the first of the 5 and the backup was Warren Moon.

Yup. Wilkenson started though right through his last season. He just changed to playing the first quarter instead of the first half.
