Proulx is a very good referee.
Why do people think the Head Referee makes EVERY call?
He’ll be fine. We won’t win (or lose) because of Andre Proulx.
Biggest issue with the CFL vs NFL is the NFL let’s way more go.
The CFL refs call so many nonsense after the okay bumps, shoves, and 30 yd away from the play holds, etc.
The CFL refs generally lack common sense that NFL refs normally show.

I don’t believe that the Head Referee makes every call, but he does make the majority in the offensive backfield, including RTPs. I do find Andre’s interpretation of that rule to be very generous towards QBs. And many might argue that is a good thing.
I also feel that when Andre is in charge, there are more penalties called than when some others are in charge, there seems to be more official initiated reviews, more conferences of officials, and more discussions with the coaches. Again, many might argue these are good things. However, I find it interrupts the play, slows the tempo of the game and, particularly, when at the stadium, creates a lot of boring down time, or at home, too many excuses for commercials or boring rants by the commentators. My feeling is that although Andre himself doesn’t make every call, he must encourage the rest of the crew to err on the side of caution, and if they have any doubt about a play, call it.
I confess to never having done any form of analysis to support or refute this opinion.
