I have a ring given to me by my grandfather who I believed to have played in the 1919 Grey Cup. It bears the insciption: J L Baker I R F U Champions 1919. The web site says no playoffs occured that year. Does anyone know anything about that championship?
During WW1, there was still football being played. The leagues across Canada played in their local areas. However, there was no games played for the Dominion Championship as The Grey Cup was called. I research the History of the Montreal Gazette, and the tern Grey Cup was never used as of and up to 1917. The Championship game was billed as the Dominion Championship game for Lord Grey’s Trophy.
