Grey Cup 110

Looks like everyone is so excited that nobody created a GC thread.

Als will be the underdog again. But they are the younger, faster, and healthier team on neutral ground.

Just caught up celebrating, maybe.
Thanks for starting the thread. This was the matchup I was hoping for.

I was hoping for B.C. think we match up better against them and would have been able to run on them. Plus it would have been fun against VA, and all the Quebcers on the Lions.

Who woulda thunk this.
The scapegoats from the rider mini purge going to the big game as head coach and QB.

I have been very hard on Thorpe in the past. But, with the right players, he has managed to create a championship caliber defence. I also must applaud Maciocia for getting Sankey and Lemon during the season, as well as picking Uguak in the draft.
Congratulations also to PKP, who will go to the Grey Cup as a first year owner.

While I’m a Bombers fan, if we do lose the GC, I’d rather it be against the Als.

I have a ton of respect for OShea and I like Collaros. Been happy he revived his career. Seems like a good guy.

No disrespect meant to the Bombers, but I certainly hope my Alouettes are dynasty killers next week!

None taken. I appreciate you calling us a dynasty!

For sure more interest in the Grey Cup now then if it was Toronto from the east

The Bombers are the measuring stick of the league. If they win this Grey Cup, you absolutely have to call them a dynasty. Three Cups in four straight appearances would be a dynasty to me.

Do we have enough magic pixie dust left to pull off one more improbable win? Or will the carriage turn back into a pumpkin at kickoff? I have no idea. I thought we’d get pummelled by Toronto yet here we are.

Regardless of whether we win the Cup or not, this has been truly an amazing, emotional season. In my 20+ years as an Als fan, I’ve never been in this type of situation, rooting for us as Grey Cup underdogs. In all our past GC appearances since 2000, we were expected to be there. In fact, the heartbreak of the aughts was getting to all those Cup games and not winning most of them. This is different.

I’m also happy for a guy like Kristian Matte, getting to go back to the big game for what may be the last time for him.

100% agree

:crossed_fingers: … but unlike Kelly, I don’t expect Collaros to be as easy to throw off kilter … offence will have to “earn their keep” next week.

That it has been … great way for PKP to start his ownership.

Again … 100% agree.

Winnipeg’s last lost was in Hamilton. This is as close to a home game Montreal can get. I think Montreal’s defense will give Collaros the same fits as they did everyone else the last 3 months. The key of this game will be to stop Olievera.

Hopefully, but Collaros is also likely the best QB they have faced in that time.

Still picking the Bombers up win. EASILY so

Of course you are. LMAO, a quick peek at riderfans is enough to understand how bitter Rider fans are after running these two guys out of town, when they clearly were not the issue.

If Montreal’s defense goes into this match with idea that all they have to do is stop Oliveira then they’ll open themselves up to a megadose of Nic Demski, Kenny Lawler, Drew Wolitarski, Agent Orange and maybe… Deep Threat Dalton. Then by the 4th quarter with the score so lopsided it won’t matter any more their defense will get run over by Oliveira anyway.

Then of course there’s that ferocious combo of Winnipeg defenders that Cody Fajardo is going to have to out play for the first time in his career.

Nope. If Montreal wants to win the Cup they’ll have to win every phase of next weeks game. Can they do it? Maybe. I think we’ll know by half time. The Bombers tend to either blow their opponents out of the water or play down to their level for some reason.

So take heart Als fans. Anything can happen in the CFL (as Toronto just found out).

My point had nothing to do with Winnipeg’s passing game, Montreal’s DB’s have proven themselves all season long. They have been vulnerable against the run, so this to me is the key of the game.

I just hope it’s a good game to watch. A nail biter of epic proportions culminating in last second Blue Bomber victory would be my icing on the cake but a Montreal upset at the end of a hard fought battle would still give me my yearly CFL Football fix.

I’ll take either outcome. :grinning: :maple_leaf: :beaver:

Alouettes have overachieved as far as I’m concerned. I wrote anything more than beating Hamilton was a bonus.
