That what the CFL is my friend. The turnover is unprecedented.
The Argos have developed Marcus Ball, Dontrelle Inman,Andre Durie, their entire 0-line, Zach Collaros, Cleyon Laing, Chad Owens (if he had stayed in Montreal he would have been a nobody), and more.
This is just how the CFL works. I find it hilarious that you call out the Argos for this when your current HC came from EDM/Calgary.
As a player, Steinauer started in Hamilton but did not come into his own until he got to Toronto. The opposite could be argued about his coaching career.
Regardless (and regardless of what team you support – that’s irrelevant to this discussion IMO), to suggest the Argos only recycle other team’s talent is to ignore the recycling that goes on throughout the league. Jim Popp started with Saskatchewan. Anthony Calvillo started with Las Vegas. Ricky Ray started with Edmonton. And on and on it goes. The number of players, coaches and execs who were developed by and stayed with a single team for long careers is infinitesimally small. Pinball Clemons is one of them, tho, so it’s wrong to suggest the Argos have never developed one of their major pieces on their own.
LOL, please. First of all, Higgins had spent six years out of the coaching game, so we didn’t poach him from any team. He wasn’t a hot property by any means. Second, for the most part, the Alouettes have developed their own coaches, either bringing in guys new to the league or else taking another team’s discard and turning him into a winner.
Trestman, Milanovich, Brady, Himebaugh, Burke, Thorpe, Chris Jones,
The difference is one of degree. All teams poach other teams’ coaches to some extent. But that is all Toronto does, and they almost always do it after the coach in question has attained success elsewhere (even Barker falls into this category – and oops! guess where he broke into the league?). It’s kind of pathetic. And incidentally it’s just like how the Leafs operate. “Draft, shmaft,” right?

As I said he is surrounding himself with good coaches. Trestman had a chance to really promote and groom Brady but he chose to hog the whole offensive show and Milanvich gave him his shot. Both Coordinators the Argos hired were out of Work had dabbled with Head Coching and have a great fall bacxk to coordinators.
Yup,I’m worried about them R-gos as well,2-0 in preseason, might as well just award them the Grey Cup now and save all the other teams and fans the trouble and bother of even playing this season.I’m sure all 5 of their fans will appreciate it
Yeah, the Argos sure poached Mike O’Shea and the aforementioned Orlondo Steinauer from other teams’ coaching staffs. Luckily the Alouettes are there to set a shining example by always finding good coaches on their own (cough Dan Hawkins cough).
That is all Toronto does really? Barker was with the Als in 96’ but his success came with the Argos from 97-99 and again in 2010-present. Saskatchewan also interviewed Milanovich and went a different way, guess they poach too eh? Wait where did Pinball come from? I’m confused because Toronto only steals from other teams. Oh that’s right they stole him from Williams and Mary. The dang Argos.
I really don’t understand why you brought up the Leafs. Is that suppose to bother me? Lol. Not only am I not a leaf fan (let alone a hockey one) but they have NOTHING to do with the Argos and how they operate.
Finally, I love how you originally called out the players but after being proven wrong you start reaching on things like coaches. If only the Argos could be as perfect as the Montreal and yourself your highness.
