As mentioned, the Masters is coming up. The field is almost full. Below is an article on how a few more could make it in. Mack Hughes with a very outside chance but he has to play extremely well. Angel Cabrera not in the field as a result of “visa issues”.

Stay tuned for the separate Masters thread and Masters Pool coming soon.
What is your current general opinion on the strength of this slate as compared to in most years?
By far the weakest ever because of the missing 15-20 players associated with LIV. The first of at least 4 asterisk majors. I will try to enjoy the beauty of the course anyway as I always do.
Mac Hughes finished with a minus 8 final score and tied for 13 th at the Houston Open . Silverman and Pendrith at minus 3 and tied for 36 th . Roger Sloan at minus 2 and tied for 44 th . Adam Svensson at even par and tied for 56 th .
Pendrith and Hughes have both played at my home course in Hamilton .
Hughes and his former caddie are friends of mine, and I had the privilege of playing Hamilton Golf and CC prior to the 2019 Canadian open. Mac has his sights on getting into the Masters field but it’s not looking great right now.
A preview of this weekend’s tournament including the 4 Canadians playing. The only way anyone else can get into the Masters is by winning this week as last week was the cut off for the top 50.
Only one week until the start of the Masters!
Svensson minus 3 , Connors minus 2 , Pendrith minus 1 , Silverman minus 1 , Sloan plus 2 . Bhatia leads at minus 9
Pendrith and Sloan missed the cut . Connors leads the Canadians at minus 3 . Bhati leads at minus 11 .
Brooke Henderson had a brilliant day at the LPGA’s first major of the season. Lightning halted play before it could be completed but today she shot -8 through 17 holes and is one shot out of the lead. Nelly Korda, the LPGA version of Scottie Scheffler, is in contention as well. She has won 4 in a row so actually she’s having a little better year than Scheffler relatively speaking. Brooke has won two majors and is still not in her prime. I’m looking for the best Canadian golfer ever to continue to build her legacy.
Outstanding
They showed her draining a few of her long putts for birdies on the news last night!
Nelly Korda and Scottie Scheffler are both on another planet right now.
That is all.
And here are their stories from this past weekend. We of course have to acknowledge Nelly’s feat as being far greater as she is facing the best players in the world in her sport while unfortunately Scottie, great as he has been playing, is not.
Brooke Henderson finished 3rd and says she is very close. She set the course record on Saturday to vault into contention.
An interesting perspective on what you could have won if you bet on Nelly and let it ride.
An article by our own Bob Weeks on Nelly Korda’s historic run. If it’s not the greatest run in the history of golf it is pretty close, and certainly the best I remember seeing since Nancy Lopez in the 70’s.
Two Canadians near the lead for this weekend’s PGA team event. I guess no ranking points for that. Oh wait, this just in. Plenty of ranking points available. Hmmm.
Zurich gets OWGR points? I thought they were removed when the team format was announced in 2017.
