Gimme a "Y!!" Or, gimme an "N!!"

I'm with ya Cheergirl!..and being a former member of the Cheer Team yourself, your views matter...

Having said all this, I have to give Lesley Stewart and the Ticats office huge kudos as they are beyond reproach in the handling of this......they were without a doubt 'blind-sided' by this stuff and not many teams have a -manual- on how to approach an issue like this.....

Good times ahead though!...this too shall pass! (specially when we 'paste' the Argos on Saturday!!) :stuck_out_tongue:

I will go for that, the popcorn is ready and the drinks are on ice !! I canā€™t wait for this season to start.
Oskee Wee Wee all the way !!!

Howard Stern should be removed from the air waves. Anyone watching or listening to his perverted crap should give their heads a shake.
This jerk exploits women and sex and anyone taken in by him, including his current network should be boycotted.

Our CFL cheerleaders who succumbed to this idiot should definitely not be reinstated. They knew what they were getting into when they allowed themselves to be interviewed by this pervert.

The CFL and more specifically, the Ticats, in our case, have an image to uphold in order to make their brand of entertainment fit for ALL family members.

Lets not lower ourselves to the level of teams who indiscriminately bring in talent who's reputations are severely tarnished.
I'm sure I sound like a prude writing all this, but one can't help the way one feels.
Lets keep the CFL clean so I can feel free to expose my wife, children and grand children to it.

I don't have a particular problem with Stern or much of the subject of his show. I beleive in freedom of speech and his material is not on public airwaves, but a subscription service much like all other socially questionable material.

With regards to these women, their actions would be fine by me if the weren't associated with the Tiger-Cats organization in such a public respect. As employees under contract to an organization attempting to cultivate and solidify a fanbase, they can't have members of their organization who are in the public spotlight and in many ways 'the faces' of their team and product playing with sex toys on radio and TV. I don't question the morality of what they did. It is their choice and all the power to them. The Tiger-Cats however have an objective of attracting youth and families to their product. To have 'the faces' of their team and product playing to families on one hand and being sexually explicit in public is like Barney the Dinosaur starring in a porno with Jenna Jameson.

If I was calling the shots in this regard with the welfare of the image of the Tiger-Cats in mind, I wouldn't want them associated with the team.

CUT THEM LOOSE! Cut Them Loose! cut them loose . . .

Have any of you posters ever heard the interview?

Its driving me nuts that people rush to conclusions just because this has to do with Howard Stern! I heard the interview as I have heard most of the Stern shows that have aired on Sirius. Trust me, it wasn't a big deal that it is being made out to be by pretty much anyone involved.

As I have explained (and been edited) before, at no time during the interview did the girls mention the CFL, the Tiger-Cats, or the City of Hamilton. The only reference to the league was made on a non-sponsered site of Howard Stern.

By the way Rocky123, would you even have known about this if it hadn't been in the paper. Just by looking at the girls at the game, would they have offended you, your wife, kids and grandchildren. Question for you, do you find the cheerleader dance routines offending?

I think the girls should just walk away, who would want to come back and be subjected to a firing line such as one that would be several miles long consisting of uninformed venom spitters like most of you seem to be.

Cheers,

Mikey, Season ticket holder Section 26

as far as Im cconcerned the two girls did nothing illegal. if the team is going to give running back ANTHONY DAVIS a second chance for something he did that was illegal while he was in college, then they should be given a second chance. dont tell me if the ticats had a chance to sign ricky williams they would and we all know what ricky williams smoked was illegal

Never was a truer statement voiced.

My opinion is thisā€¦ these girls did nothing wrong, they were NOT there repsresenting the team nor the CFL. Dismissing them for a ā€œguilty by assossiationā€ reason is just wrong. So my answer is YES they should be reinstated, mind youā€¦ do they WANT to come back??

Darren Flutie (while still a Tiger-Cat) appeared with his brother Doug on Howard's show. Where were all the angry villagers with their pitchforks and torches then?

I believe if players went on that show and behaved the same way these girls did, many people would have the opinion of "boys will be boys" - clearly a double standard.

I think Mister Lahey is correct when he stated if reinstated these girls will face a lot of heat from our fans, many rude comments which could get really ugly on game day.

Your exactly right Crash !!!! A double standard to be sure . just look at a certain RB who is on this team . I say let the girls back on the team or get rid of any player with a questionable background !!!!

really... what were they doing that was so wrong?

they said they still had their V cards on satellite radio... do the cats not want to promote a healthy dose of abstinence and purity in their junior cheer team mikey?

(btw, that comment was said semi-seriously, not really sure if it was more of a joke or opinion right now... lol)

seriously tho, unless the rest of the cheer team doesn't want them there, i dont really see what the problem is with them staying on the cheer team.

I am very adament they should be allowed back. They went on the show to promote someone else's product, not the CFL. They didn't make the connection, Howard did. As far as I know, they barely even sold themselves as such, if at all. And notice the words "Hamilton" and "Tiger-cats" are nowhere to be found.

There is a terrible double standard in this league, and this incident furthers it. If you can't keep it in your pants, the CFL wants you. If you can keep it in your pants, you're fired. How many CFL players are unmarried fathers? Heck, how many have been known to give teammates the "red light special" on the road. How many posters on message boards talk about which girls they wanna "do", or tell their buddies at the game, and these girls go on that show and give the image that it's not that easy? Considering some of the dancing we watch them do - and I believe it was Lesley who had the Blue Thunder do a dance based around sexily unzipping their jackets and ripping it off their bodies a la Demi Moore in Striptease - I'd say that's a good way to pull their image back in.

They didn't do anything wrong, so reinstate them. Before their lawyers start waving the Charter of Rights and Freedom in your faces. I'd say being an organization that discriminates women is alot worse for your reputation!

Funny how if a player went on the show (like many athletes do) nobody would say a thing. Much less possibly lose their job.

I donā€™t know about that. I think if Mike Oā€™Shea went on the show and rode the Symbian, there would be a lot said about it. Not to mention a whole new campaign by the forbidden website.

...if reinstated these girls will face a lot of heat from our fans, many rude comments which could get really ugly on game day.
This is the problem everyone on both sides of this debate can agree on. As a result we all want this story to just go away - for the good of the cheerleaders involved as well as for the Cheerleading team.

Because of this Iā€™m going to ask you all to ignore this topic for the next few months and will ask the mods to delete any reference to it. (If you really want to debate this donā€™t hesitate to do so on other fan sites around the 'net.)

This thread is hereby locked.

Thanks, Bob.

Cheerleading is not these girl's livelihood. It is a hobby.

The Ticats should tell these young ladies to do their cheerleading somewhere else.

No big deal for them but a big deal for the Ticats.

They know the Ticats are striving to create a family-friendly image.

These women made the decision to go on the Howard Stern Show
even though they knew it is an X-rated type of show.

A totally non-family-friendly show. What did they expect.

Questions about their fitness lifestyle? gardening?

Most of the public will never hear what was talked about on the show but...

their photos are now on the internet and
they have being displayed on ticats.ca.

They aren't just random snapshots.
These young women posed for these photos.

One may argue that the photos are mild. True but...

If even a small number of people find the photos unsuitable for young children,

the Ticat's family-friendly image, which they agreed to uphold, is damaged.

These young women are responsible for the decisions they made
and therefore; they must accept the consequences.

P.S.

I am speaking from a business perspective.

I am not expressing my own personal viewpoint of what is, or is not, offensive.
