Drew just reported that Giguere injured himself in practice today, and may have to miss the trip to B.C.
If he can't play,he says look for Stala to get his first start of season.

Also Davis could be in for Breaux, and Hage may return to lineup.

While I'm not pleased that someone is hurt...I am pleased that it makes room for Stala to start.

This is why Stala should remain. Besides, I wouldn't be surprised if Stala had a career game.

As for Hage...while I'm pleased he is healing up, I would hope that they don't rush him back too soon. I'm also sure that our coaches know what they are doing.

I too hope Giguere is not seriously hurt (so I can see how he looks in a RedBlacks uni next year).
And with Dave in, we'll have a guy who knows where the 1st down marker is.
And a brand new TD celebration in Vancouver on Friday night.

I have to admit that I'm a little concerned about this recent event. If, as it seems, Stala starts in place of Sam, where do you position him? If you play him in the Z spot, field side WR, Dave is not a threat out there. He never had the speed to get open or gain separation from defenders out in the stationary Z spot 5 years ago, let alone now! If they put him out there, that's a huge waste and a huge loss. The other option is to play him inside at SB which is also not necessarily ideal. If he has to man an inside receiver position then that means you're moving Bakari or Greg or Onrea outside. It also means that when you go to a two back set with Gable & Moore which I think is key this week, because of the ratio you have to put Stala on the field in a 2 back set unless you go 2 rb's & a te set with Delahunt.

I'm worried that this significantly affects the playbook for the Cats this weekend. As good & reliable & dependable that Dave has been, having to use him limits the full use of the playbook & puts other players into their not ideal positions in order to cover for Stala's weaknesses & deficiencies.

It also means special teams are affected.

IMHO if Stala plays he will not be a detriment to the team.
He is a seasoned veteran, runs precise routes, can read defenses and has some history with Hank.
Stala can and will still get open and do whatever it takes to contribute.

Sticky stick it to BC :rockin:

X 2

sigh...... Giguere is in his 2nd year and has shown dramatic growth since his rookie season. He is 16th over all in the league in receiving and 3rd overall NI receiver. Ya..... let's ship him out cuz we all know that as good as Stala WAS... we all know that he'll be around for the next 7 or 8 years, won't he??.... un-freakin-believable....

I'm putting the O/U @ 1 for receptions for Stala Friday night.

And for everybody who says; "They're not using/throwing to him" its simple, get open! I don't think Henry is prejudice to getting a completion or making a first down!

Get open Dave! I see this as your make or break game!

Allow me to state why I'm not a Giguere fan:
He's build like and has the speed of a thoroughbred, but in any one-on-one situation, he's the one who goes down.
He chose to spend four years on the practice rosters of the Colts and Giants, rather than come to Hamilton and actually play.
He doesn't run his routes hard and rarely finishes off his patterns.
He doesn't have the heart of desire to play here; maybe he'd be happier in Montreal or Ottawa.
Plain-and-simple; he's got a bad attitude.

  1. "In a one on one situation, he's the one going down." I would expect so..... since HE his the receiver and the one being tackled. And if you're referring to his blocking..... you're wrong again. I've seen him absolutely destroy opposing DBs numerous times.
  2. "He chose to spend four years on the practice roster blah blah blah..." Seriously dude?? He has a shot at playing in, arguably, the premiere football league in the world, making serious coin.... and you slag him for that??? Being put on a practice roster means SOMEONE is definitely interested. Tell me YOU wouldn't opt for more coin if you were in that situation. Hate to burst your bubble.... but the era of "playing for the love of the game" is long gone.
  3. He doesn't run his routes hard blah blah blah..... obviously not since he's only the 3rd overall NI receiver the league
  4. He doesn't have the heart and desire to play here..... based on what?? Your prejudice??
  5. Bad attitude?? ROTFALMFAO!!! the only bad attitude here is yours.

i'll second that remark

Sure, these are just my opinions; my attitude, my prejudice, as you say. And you have your opinions...about playing versus practising...about how modern-day athletes feel about playing a sport for a living. I don't know the guy personally; maybe you do, but I respect your opinions either way.
By the way on another thread, there's news that he had some surgery on his hand or wrist, and I'm not happy about that. He deserves to have the good fortune to make a living.

Sorry bub, but in my opinion NFL does not equal premiere football league. I will grant that, through media hype, they are able to pay inordinately high salaries, but our game/field is superior.

That's why I said "arguably". Personally.... I think the most entertaining football league in the world is the CFL.... that being said (and I'm a HUGE CFL fan).... the talent level is MUCH higher in the No Fun League (you can't argue that...it's where the elite college players go) and that is also where the coin is..... so you definitely can't slag a kid for chasing that dream while the spark (ie a PR roster spot) is still alive.

Then..... if they are just "my opinions; my attitude, my prejudice"...... don't present them as FACT....

You’ve had your say and I’ve had mine. That’s how it works.

Frank

When you present "my opinions; my attitude, my prejudice" as facts.... you'll get called out. That's how it works.

C'mon guy. I never said that my opinions on Giguere were "facts." When I see something in his body language after an unsuccessful play, when hear rumours that Burris said, "he doesn't always have his head in the game," and I perceive that as a "bad attitude," that's just my opinion. And you have a different opinion on Giguere, and I repeat, "I respect that."

Just watched the 3rd quarter from last week and saw the incomplete pass to #11. He ran the corner and then once he was wide open, he slowed down. He would have taken a lot of heat on the sidelines for that.

Anyone who has played any competitive sports knows that if you have ever looked bad ie dropped ball, you damn well make sure fingers never get pointed your way again for the rest of the game.

It's too bad 11 hasn't figured that out.
