Redblacks add to firepower with howitzer celebrating touchdowns
Good news and bad news for the folks — you know who you are — who get upset at the roar of military planes soaring over the Stadium at TD Place during Redblacks games.
The good news is there will be no flybys Friday night when the Redblacks face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
The bad news for some, and good news for others, is the 30th Field Artillery Regiment will be in the house for fan appreciation night.
And they’re bringing their little friend, a 105-mm C3 howitzer.
The powerful piece will be firing a (blank) round for each Redblacks TD. So the noise warnings are in effect.
But more good news: “All safety precautions are being taken to ensure there is no threat to the public.? Good to know.

And Ottawa fans don't even get to see the game? When is the league going to deal with TSN. Tonights game, which impacts 1st in the EAST is only being shown in Ontario (but not eastern Ontario which includes Ottawa) and BC.
And this is Friday Night Football the leagues flagship broadcast. That is TSN taking a big dump on the league. Disgraceful.
Right on DC . This is a slap at the CFL national audience this is unacceptable as a partner .
Noticed if you get all 4 TSN 's they actually have four different ads on all 4 . So they sell regionally no national ads . What’s up with that ? Do they get more money selling regionally ?
Ottawa needs to pick up it’s game Hamilton has played inspiring under dog football .
Stale is the number of teams Earl and a crap of a playoff system not the product on the field . Stale is losing your audience in Ottawa who don't get all five TSN stations as well as the Winnipeg area who didn't get to see this diamond in the rough .
The product is the best it's been for awhile after fixing the number of challenges.
Now inspire your new fan by making a logical system where two teams with inferior records don't have home field advantage and get more teams within Canada that will make this play off system that much more difficult which also enhances the World Canadian Rules Football Championship known as the Grey Cup .
To each his own Hank. I choose to see the glass half full rather than half empty. Of course improvements can be made, to any league. Every league has it's issues.
The only reason returning to the board is Ambrosie listening to the fans .
If we continued like last year even long in the tooth fans like myself will tune out .
If you want to get more people that follow your product give them something more substantial with a common sense approach to a play off system that seen as bush league by the anti CFL crowd . You finally have Ottawa going strong now don't blow it by allowing another 1981 debacle where an Ottawa team 5-11 challenged for the Grey Cup which hurt the leagues image in Ottawa and around the league . You cannot devalue the regular season and not have a fall off in fan support .
Toronto nor Ottawa should be allowed a home play off game it is beyond common sense . This is not the NFL where you have 32 teams and the one time home field advantage to an inferior team is a asterisk . This is common practice in this league year in and year out it needs to change immediately .
Besides last year Ottawa said it lost money hosting the east final so it's not a factor in the bottom line anymore . Lets hope 2018 Ambrosie kicks some geezer butt .
