Whew! An exciting win over the Als and the weather. Luckily, the upcoming game is under the dome and wind and rain won’t be a factor. But, this game is vs. the Arghblows and Rick Ray who are the reigning Grey Cup champs. So, how do the Cats approach a rested and veteran Blew Team when the stakes are win or die?
On defence, I would suggest more of the same. The past 4-5 games have seen the D mature into one of the tougher squads in the league. If they can keep up the pressure, coverage and good tackling that has recently been shown the Cats will have a good chance at limiting the T.O. attack. I was recently looking at the second Cats T.O. game and saw some great reaction to the ball and some excellent attack to first contact but a poor showing of hit and wrap as Durie et al. ran for YAC yards and first downs that they shouldn’t have gotten. I don’t think Breaux played in the later season games against the Blows so they have that to look forward to. Breaux played such a great game against Duron Carter that the Als moved him away to try and get him open. Just awesome.
On offence, I’m not sure what to think. The Blows D have some blitz plays that are very similar to the Als but they are not as effective and the Arghblow secondary is not as good at press cover as Montreal. I think the Cats’ run game will show up again as they have has success against T.O. on the ground; when they run away from or around McCune. My take is, limit mistakes and the O should run just fine.
Specials are going to be interesting.
I’m interested in what others think. I hope to look back at the other Cats vs. T.O. games as the week goes on and see what other info/questions I can come up with. Let us know if you do the same.
