Game 5 - What to expect?

Well, many of us are still puzzling over the 2012 edition of the Als. We have seen some encouraging signs at times, including the ability to bounce back in a game - that may prove to be huge going forward! BUT we have also seen two stinkeroos where the D fell flat on its keester

I won't add to what most of you have already posted about the D, STs... My concern now is about our O-line which has allowed far too many sacks, and the lack of a ground game. Until and unless our D gets its act together with both better schemes and performance, our O will have to put together a more balanced attack.

Once again, I have no idea what to expect this Friday. I must say that both the Argos and the Ticats looked after their glaring deficiencies in the off-season by finding competent QBs. Both teams, IMO, appear capable of going far this season, at least at this juncture. There are still 14 games to play and a lot can happen between now and the end of the season. So, there are absolutely no gimmees for the Als and each game will likely be an "adventure". I hope that we can change things around soon. I guess we got really spoiled over more than a decade when the Als not only won, but dominated!

Go Als go!

Trestman would help his offense if he didn't give up running the football after two unsuccessful series. Rivals see the tendency and it puts the oline and Calvillo in a bad spot. Toronto has released Riggs. He's a guy I would very much like to see being brought in for a tryout.

should be a close one. might be decided in the final minute again.

I would add one more area of concern. Our usually reliable receiving corps, starting with Jamel, has been somewhat of a disappointment. The dropped passes, often delivered right on the numbers and very catchable, kill drives. We have had more than our share of 2-and-outs. This is an area that requires improvement.

Extending drives and wearing out the opposing D is always an advantage. So, I hope to see our star receivers hanging on to the ball in this game and in future games.

Indeed. Every team knows by now: stop Montreal early on the ground and you take away the running game for the remainder of the match.

At the risk of sounding psycho rather than psychic, I say the Als come out with a win based on an impressive defensive performance. That`s just the way things work in the CFL sometimes, the unpredictable.

I look for big performances from Rod Davis and John Bowman as they get comfortable in the new defense.

Gotta get some positive vibes going.

 i believe that. i do.

simple IMPROVEMENTS IN ALL AREAS!!

The following changes have occurred when we compare active rosters of games 4 and 5.

IN:
Victor Anderson. I RB
Alan-Michael Cash. I DT
Ventrell Jenkins. I DT

OUT:
Aaron Hunt. I DT Released
Marques Murrell. I DE 1 game injury list
Michael Ola. I T Practice roster

While it is obvious that Cash and Jenkins will replace Hunt and Murrell as dressed players/DL, you wonder who will replace Ola as dressed player, not in same position. It will definitely be a RB, either Anderson or Devine; personnally, I opt for Anderson; I do think that he is a better RB than Devine and can return kickoffs.

Richard no problem with hunt's release!! yes want to see cash's game at DT and the return of DT jenkins!! let's see what we have their!! as for anderson same thing let's see what he can add to the return game!! montreal's D with another test tomorrow against toronto!! NO pass rush again and the poor DB will be trailing all the argo receivers exactly like the als coverage team running after owens and durie!! time to show improvements in every area of the game alouettes!! 2012 is no different then any other season TALK IS CHEAP AND ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THEN WORDS!! time to shake and bake!! oh yeah baby!! GO ALS GO!!

So, we’re only going to dress one import DE (Bowman)? :?

Cash and Jenkins are both over 280 lbs and aren’t quick enough to line up at end. If Bowman goes down, who subs in? Chima? Adebayo? Not great depth there at all IMO. I hope we activate Lockley and sit Osaisai.

Johnny ain't happy with a non import such as Mullinder or Chima playing defensive end! But hey, we gots us an import at the all important safety position...

all we have here lately is one post after another of NEGATIVE anti alouette bs by aliases who we all know who they are and looking for rants so they can start the process of getting posters they dislike barred!! grow up!!

In 3 of the first 4 games of the 2012 regular season, the Als dressed only 1 Import DE.

Marques Murrell in game 1.
Mike Lockley in games 2 and 3.
John Bowman and Marquis Murrell in game 4.

John Bowman will be the only one in game 5; Mike Lockley is on 1 game injury list.

Richard

LOL ! Not exactly how this will go down :cowboy:

I hope so. The Als have only lost four games to Toronto in 14 years playing in Montreal and two of those games were meaningless games at the tail end of the season with the Als resting their star players. So really two loss in 14 years.

Yikes, didn’t realize that. Using Hebert at safety is really hamstringing our ability to keep the D-line fresh. And why on earth can’t we bench (or optimally, release) Osaisai? Is carrying the worst import DB known to man on the roster worth burning an import spot? You can’t tell me Milton or Townsend would be worse as the dimeback.

All streaks have to end some time. That said, I am picking Montreal to win a very close game.

Id be happy with this game win or lose if Osaisai isnt on the field for the als after it or preferably during it. He completely defeats the purpose of using an import player in that american players are supposed to be better than canadians due to experience but canadian high school players could do a similar job

Hopefully the fact that this is Milanovich's first time here as the HC of the Argos will help provide a little more incentive for the Als.
