I heard a rumor on here that the BC Place is going to be torn down after the 2010 Olympics, anyone else heard this or can confirme it?
Now here is a reliable source to find that out. :roll: Why don't you try phoning the Provincial Government in Victoria (604-660-2421)....I'm sure they'll have all the facts you are looking for.
So far I've only seen you mention anything about BC Place being demolished....

I heard mention of it too, that the cost of replacing the roof (whose life span is over in 2011 or so) would actually be higher than replacing the building. Though, with concrete, steel, and labour costs going through the roof, I wonder if that hasn't changed.
If they are upgrading BC Place for the 2010 games, I cant see them tearing it down. A new roof could be part of the renovation.
The few times Ive been in BC place for CFL games, my only complaint is that its very hot and humid inside the dome...hope they get some better AC there. BTW, am I the only one who thinks this? BC place is a great venue, but it seems as the 4th approaches it gets extra stuffy with all that humanity piled row by row.
Oh, on those hot summer days, its a sauna all right! There was a wild a$$ed rumour floating around that they would replace the roof with a retractable one. So on those summer days you could sit back and look at Grouse Mountain all lit up.
So far its only RUMOUR!

they need to have an outdoor stadium there, with all that beautiful secenery and weather let the boys play outside where football should be played.
Or I’m sure they will make something up and if its a contract…rip it up.
It's only a rumour and if it was true , what a stupid idea. Build a huge building like that and rip it down 25 years later ,that's real good. There is NOTHING wrong with BC Place .It's a great place for what it's used for , watching football games , trade shows etc.
Very overblown about how "hot" it is inside . It can get warm on a hot summer day but what place isn't? When it's pouring outside there's no better place to watch then under the Dome . Anyone I've ever been to a game with there has never had a problem with it. The vast majority of the griping about it on here seems to come from non-BC fans who've never even been in the place . And their own stadium is open so theirs just must be better.
BC Place is an excellent facility , and our own media seems to do the other half of the griping , but they speak with their own usual ignorance too as most BC fans don't seem to have a problem with it . When BC attendance has been down in the past , it had nothing to do with BC Place and every thing to do with the on field performance of the team. Our media knows nothing about football , only that it's played in that big place next to the Canucks building.
The only thing that sucks about BCP is the sound quality.

I wasn't refering to you whatsoever . It's stuff I've been hearing for YEARS and mostly by our own zero-credabiltiy media . This thread isn't the only one ever to cover this topic . You shouldn't be so presumptous and freaking touchy .
Yup, and JP McConnel is the worst offender for bashing the CFL since CKNW lost the broadcast rights!
