CORNWALL — Four members of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats are coming to town on Monday, Aug. 15.
Albert Smith, defensive tackle; Justin Medlock, punter/kicker; Matt Carter, wide receiver; and Justin Hickman, defensive end will be conducting a clinic for youth at the Terry Fox Centre.
CORNWALL - At least one attendee of the clinic put on by members of the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats has his priorities straight.
“I’m here to learn skills. . . work as hard as I can,” said Alex Rose of Summerside during a break at the six-hour camp. “These guys are really helpful. They tell us all their secrets.”
Rose, 14, was one of about 30 boys and girls from eight to 18-years-old at Monday’s session at the Terry Fox Sport Complex in Cornwall. The clinic was a joint operation between Football P.E.I., Football Canada and the Tiger-Cats. It’s also a lead-up for the Ti-Cats’ regular-season game versus the Calgary Stampeders next month in Moncton, N.B.
Made trip east
Four players - defensive backs Justin Hinds and Michael Carter, who along with Ti-Cats coaching staff, put Rose and his group through several DB-specific drills, defensive end Justin Hickman and kicker Justin Medlock - made the trip east during the team’s bye week.
