With the 2007 season fast approaching, CFL Broadband wants to give fans an opportunity to revisit the top games of the 2006 season.
Starting this weekend, fans will be provided five games in which to choose from in the Canon Fan Poll. The game which receives the most votes will be available free of charge on CFL Broadband the following week.
The game that receives the second-most votes will carry forward the following weekend in addition to four new games. The promotion will last five weeks.
Games chosen will follow the course of the 2006 season. This week’s nominees include:
Game 9: Winnipeg 17 @ Montreal 27
In the CFL season opener, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers show early signs that they won’t be a pushover in 2006. But it’s the Montreal Alouettes who pull out their 10th-straight victory in season openers, thanks to rookie Chip Cox’s two interceptions.
Game 12: Edmonton 14 @ Calgary 24
In another edition of the Battle of Alberta, Calgary Stampeders quarterback Henry Burris throws two late touchdown passes to rally his club over the defending Grey Cup champion Edmonton Eskimos.
Game 15: Calgary 14 @ Edmonton 18
In the second of back-to-back games, the Eskimos get pay back against their arch rivals on home turf. Burris looks to rally the Stampeders to another come from behind victory, but Edmonton’s Shannon Garrett ends the threat with a late interception.
Game 16: B.C. 24 @ Saskatchewan 32
The Saskatchewan Roughriders rebound from a humiliating 45-28 loss against the B.C. Lions in the season opener. Saskatchewan scores two touchdowns in the final minute of regulation to give the Lions their first loss of the year.
Game 17: Hamilton 22 @ Calgary 23
With the Hamilton Tiger-Cats desperate for a victory, the Stampeders pull out another late victory thanks to kicker Sandro DeAngelis’ 45-yard field goal on the game’s final play. DeAngelis leads a soccer-style celebration following the kick.
Polling will be conducted from 3 p.m. ET on Friday to Monday morning. Fans are limited to one vote per day.
