Football Throwing for Recreation

In the Summer of 2021, about how many times per week did you throw the football with someone?

I take advantage of every situation to play catch with a football, even to this day at my age. I have two Wilson CFL game balls. One that has never left my office and the other that rolls around in the trunk of my car, always ready. I find that even people who ordinarily wouldn't be interested in a throw and catch are willing to try because the ball is an actual CFL ball. Also even if they can't throw they are usually willing to try to kick it, which is fine with me. If I have a target to throw to they can kick it back all they want.

In my younger years I wore out a Spalding J5V and an NFL Wilson 'Duke' ball. 'The Duke' that I had I also completely took apart, laces and all (dissected), when it was no longer usable. Got my $100 dollars worth out of that ball for sure.

Mind you, ONCE last summer I DID toss my old poorly inflated pigskin (not my naughty bits) around with my nephew for a few minutes until my arm nearly fell off. That counts for something.

I spend a lot of time every week thinking about getting out my j5v and seeing what, if any, distance I can still kick fgs

I was almost inspired by your dashing "what, if" field goal kicking exploits! Your near heroic effort has not quite left a huge impact on my life! Well done (maybe)!!

Keep up the good work that you might one day get around to doing FootbalYouBet! :+1:

My shoulder hurts just thinking about throwing a football, any ball, nowadays with rotator cuff and impingement problems from years of playing baseball.

I just had a crazy thought, wouldn't it be great if a player who had a throwing impairment teamed up with a player who had a catching impairment (or just never figured out how catch the damned ball properly)? I'd allow that kind of dynamic duo to play in a casual league.

It is usually too windy for my NERF.

For better performance on windy days, just dip your limp Nerf in 'Liquid Hard On' (otherwise known as LHO). :+1:

Warning: If your Nerf stays hard for more than 4 hours consult a physician.

They tried that in Ottawa last season. It wasn't much fun.

You may just be describing the CFL in the future, long after all the other attributes, associated with the the aspiring talents of that day, are deemed unworthy.

To be the judge is to be the one who has to go chasing the damn ball...

Nice idea Maaax. I think you could market that to TLC as a new reality show, ‘Takin One For The Team’. They can sandwich it between Pimple Popper and 90 Day Fiancée

I'd have to pitch these imperfect combos as the 'Ultimate in Mediocrity' or the 'Best of the Worst'. Those reality TV execs are hard to win over. Hmmm.

Maybe if I lead with a bottle of Canadian Rye and a bag of ice...

If anyone can do it, you’re the guy

Mediocrity selling mediocrity. By golly you're right. Who but middling me could possibly do it better?

If TLC says no, maybe OLN would want it to spice up their schedule. Get Dieter Brock to throw those LHO dipped footballs and you’ve got a whole new ER type show.
