WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are heading to their fifth-straight Grey Cup.
Thanks to a massive night from receiver Kenny Lawler, who had three touchdowns and 177 yards on the night, Winnipeg defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders 38-22 in the Western Final to punch their ticket to the 111th Grey Cup.
Is O’Shea going to dress Schoen and Bighill for the Grey Cup so that they can get their names on the Cup? Nah, even O’Shea isn’t that much of a sentimental fool.,
Bombers really ground the Riders into the turf. I expected more from Corey Mace and his team. I thought they would at least have a good defensive game plan. Offensively, when the Riders kept running A.J. up the middle for two yards and a cloud of dust, I knew they were done like a dinner. Thor, you shouldn’t have left the Argos and changed your hair color. Blondes have more fun.
Bombers gameplan and execution was superior from the get to. Still cannot get a win in Winnipeg, congrats bomber fans you fully deserved it. Looking like you get an argos team without chad Kelly so as much i want to see you lose i fully expect you to win… especially if you play like you did tonight
A comment about both telecasts. Both game announcers were good (with one exception). Color men Glen Suitor and Duane Ford were not. They never come up with anything edgy or incisive. Suitor babbles a lot about nothing. Ford is insipid and says nothing. Best commentary in either game was by Jim Barker on the sideline in Montreal. He explained what they were doing on defence to smother the Argos. Thanks Jim. Bring in some color men who are interesting and entertaining – please. The gme announcers too often fail to update viewers after there is a change of possession and then a commercial. The telecast resumes and the ball is on a different spot. There has been a penalty, but they completely ignore it leaving the audience to figure out what happened. C’mon TSN, smarten up. We deserve better.
riderville let down again. Why does a riderville fanbase always get their hopes up, you’re never going to play in a Grey Cup Championship with jeremy o’day in charge. ole jeremy will be entering year 27 in 2025 in the saskatchewan roughriders employ, the riders should have moved on from o’day after his playing career ended. Time for a new direction in riderville, the sooner the better. Wake up! The only reason the riders slipped into a playoff spot this year is the fact the two Alberta teams had a bad year, that will be corrected in short order leaving the riders right back to where they belong, the CFL West Division basement, again. Oh yeah, we didn’t see any rider CFL Allstars (not one) in the West Division final against the Blue Bombers, the riderville fanbase needs to quit skewing those player votes.
All I have to say is the avatar switch at the start of the year worked (the #5 represented 5 straight Finals). I almost changed it back in early summer, thinking it was voodoo…
Next year will be a Kramdi avatar!
The most Grey Cups in a row that Calgary was involved with was three. I suppose it could be worse, I remember feeling tired of always seeing the Esks in the GC when they were in 9 of them in 10 years back in the 70’s and 80’s. Both my teams (CGY and HAM) were out of the running this year so I just pulled for OTT and BC since they were hosting. Tough year for sure. I’ll watch the Grey Cup as usual but if Toronto is out of it early, I’ll shut er’ down. Cheers
On that note, there are already some representing that the Bombers “have this in the bag now because blah blah blah” who not only seem to have forgotten the recent Grey Cups but also those prior years when the Stamps dominated the league and were the favourite in the Grey Cup, but most here know that score.
I’ve learned a few times over in great astonishment in my comparatively shorter time as a CFL fan since the 2008 Grey Cup to not make grand assumptions about the favourite team going into the Grey Cup whatever my prediction (GO BOMBERS!), for as the adage goes, THAT’S WHY THEY PLAY THE GAME!
BTW “if” you were talking about the 2018 Stamps vs REDBLACKS GC, backstory one of my brother’s is an ardent Stamps (spit) fan, we were traveling to Mexico the day after the GC, also because we don’t live in Winderpeg we booked a room in Winnipeg to avoid risking early morning highway travel. Calgary was heavily favored and had a sizable lead after the first half…he, my brother was a ginormous GALOOT…well we all know how that turned out.
Personally I never pull the ripcord before I Leap from the aircraft.
