Federal gov't spends money on Blue Jays game - in Seattle

At least spend it on the team playing in Canada at the Rogers Centre for pete sakes if it's part of the Canada 150 celebrations. ::slight_smile:

Government spent close to $10K on Jays tickets for Canada 150 and travel ‘influencers’

It looks like the federal government was listening when somebody sang, “Take me out to the ball game, take me out with the crowd.?

Documents tabled in Parliament last week show the government spent thousands on Toronto Blue Jays tickets in 2017. The biggest chunk was spent taking 90 private sector, technology and government partners from B.C., the United States and Mexico to watch the Jays take on the Seattle Mariners on June 11, 2017. In Seattle.

The event was billed as a part of Canada 150 celebrations.

Why would they entertain Americans and Mexicans in Toronto, if the business partners were from B.C.? They become 85.00 tickets by the end of the article.

When I celebrate Canada Day and it's 150th - I don't go to the states to do it. Pretty self explanatory how this expenditure is BS.

While I don't want to see anyone fired, the money/costs she be deducted from the employee's/boss'/the person who authorized this, pay.

I'm with you on that Iconic.

If it's a fraudulent or intentionally misrepresented expense - someone should be fired. That's how the real world works and then this stuff becomes a smaller issue. But no - apparently we can't expect all federal employees to actually follow the law for expensing things.
