The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that Canadian fullback Darcy Brown has signed a contract extension that will keep him in Hamilton through the 2014 season.

Good to see Darcy back with the Cats. He may have some competition from Ty Francisco, T.E. Weber State, a 2011 draft pick. At 6'3" and 250 he sounds like a clone of Bob Richardson from our 72 Grey Cup team. We should be so lucky!

I like this signing, as I love it when Darcy gets the ball - really tough for the DBs to bring down. I wish they would use him more this way, maybe even sending him deep once in a while.
But you might be right that Francisco might end up giving him some major competition. As an actual tightend, I’m guessing that he’s had a fair bit of experience blocking. Unfortunately, Darcy didn’t play that position in college (as far as I remember), and is still learning the skill. And that’s a big part of the position’s responsibility.
I'm happy about this also. Darcy really picked up his game and I hope to see him used more as well.

when darcy was drafted, one remark made about him was that he had a chance to be the new ray elgaard.
and elgaard was the meanest sunofabitch in the valley, and an awesome player.
darcy hasn't been given the chance, so far.
here's hoping the ticats have an increased role envisioned for him.
