Fan Forum

For those in Winnipeg, don't forget the annual fan forum is Wednesday, April 6 at the Tijuana Yacht Club at Canad Inns Polo Park (1405 St. Matthews Ave). Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the forum starts at 7:00 p.m.

And just a teaser of what to expect... from the Winnipeg Sun:

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will announce Wednesday that they actually turned a profit despite another losing season on the gridiron, club president Jim Bell confirmed Tuesday.

"We're very pleased," Bell said. "Certainly we would have liked to have won more games on the field last year and it's been well-documented that, how many game were there that we lost by four points or less — nine? But having said that, when you look at our financial statement, it's obvious that our fans were loyal, very supportive and tomorrow, we will present a profit on our financial statement for 2010 and we're very, very pleased with that — not only in what we accomplished last year but what we believe in going forward this year and as we move into our new home."

Winnipeg went 4-14 the last season and it is rare for a losing CFL club to finish in the black.

Bell, however, would not disclose how much that profit is, but did indicate that it is a healthy one.

We're excited about it," he said. "We're excited about it. We think it's significant."

Someone at the BB forum complained about Tair mentioning some of the questions but not reporting the response. StillWears#1 was at the fan forum and posted this in response:

Play-calling - Lapo said it is definately something he is aware of and something he and his coaches are concerned about. They have apparently gone over every situation and call and result, compared with other teams with the same situation and result and they will definately play to the odds going forward in close call scenereos.

Buck - Knock on wood about Pierce, as well as being extremely confident in Joey Elliot moving forward if the worst should happen. Said they will of course look at new QBs as they become available, but they obviously see Elliot as their #2 next season.

Homegrown players - assured that particular fan they're always tryig to bring in some local junior guys to give them some experience with the pro game, but then emphatically stated he will always go for the best player available, regardless of hometown.

Hunt replacement - Mack admitteded Hunt is pretty much irreplacable. But then said that there will be 5 guys competing for the available spot in training camp, so we should see a good battle. Was very upfront about it and what he has done to find guys.
