Looks like we've got the cream of our FA's locked up, and there some great talent floating around. Obie is on the prowl for sure.

Now, how many days till camp is that again?

PS: It's" re-signing"; it scares me when I see mention of resignations. :stuck_out_tongue:

As much as I like Nick Setta .. Sandro Deangelis would great pick up .
It would allow us to dress a Canadian and maybe save a roster spot

I agree and Sandro is from this area.

Absolutely!!!!

I would dump Setta for De Angelis in a heartbeat!!!!

Setta is not going anywhere. When healthy, he is just as good a DeAngelis. Plus, he gets along well with his teammates, which DeAngelis (who got punched out last year by Burke Dales during a practice) does not. DeAngelis has an ego and a big mouth. Setta does not.

re- "maybe save a roster spot" Who,s? and replace with who?

Nick Setta does place kicking and punting. Sandro DeAngelis only does place kicking. Who would do the punting if the Ticats decided to sign DeAngelis? Maybe Dave Stala could become the full-time punter but it is probably best that he continue to focus on his primary job as a starting receiver instead of having to do full-time punting reps at practice. If not Stala, then the Ticats would also have to sign a good full-time punter. The best solution is the one that already exists: keep Nick Setta because he handles both roles well.

Good point, TCTD. Setta does both jobs quite well and there is the fact that DeAngelis is a complete knob as well. Can't stand that guy. The only way that Setta would be replaced is if they can find someone who can do both jobs better than him.

Your point is well taken, borehamgirl. Character is very important in a team game and Nick Setta wins hands down over Sandro DeAngelis in that category. Here is a small example of how Nick Setta conducts himself. About three days before Christmas, he returned to Hamilton to take a large group of children to the Reeboks store in Mississauga for shoes as a Christmas gift. At one point during that day, he came into one of the downtown Hamilton banks and stood in line respectfully until his turn came rather than "pulling rank" due to his status as a local sports celebrity. I respect Nick Setta for that and I am glad he is a Ticat.

Me too. I hope Nick Setta will be a career Ticat for many years to come. He's an excellent player and a fine person. You can't have enough of those on your team.

Maybe another Import WR RB
Look I am not saying Dump Nick
I like Nick Setta but The Ratio the is Big Peace of the Canadian Game.
Having a Canadian Kicker Allow us one more American else where we could use
I agree Nick is Fine Guy and Pretty Good Kicker
He did have an off year on Field Goals
Plus his Punting AVG was down.

He was just given the Job Last year
He need to be push all players do to be there best

First a agree that Nick is the man for the job, but as for coming back at Christmas, Im pretty sure he got paid for that, "not taking away the good role model he is" and as for waiting in line at the bank, why would he not! "He is not God" LOL!

They don't get paid for charity work on their own time. They why it's called charity work.

So you want to cut one of the best allpurpose kickers in profootball, So a unproven American can replace a established Canadian ,just because ? And btw Setta did have competition last season - PAT FG
Name Team Att Md. Att Md. Pct. Avg Long Single Points
SETTA, N HAM 40 39 50 38 76.0 30.2 51 13 166
ITO, J HAM 4 4 3 3 100.0 29.0 34 0 13

Sandro is from Niagara Falls, he would love to play with the Cats.

I am not saying Drop Nick I am saying Bring in a kicker or two to Camp to push him
sandro Deangelis signing him would show nick he has step up his game.
I think we should bring back Ito back as he did well the games he played.

DeAngelis isn't the guy you bring in to push your kicker. With his ego, the amount you'd be paying him just wouldn't be worth it. You bring in someone who can do both jobs and compete so that we can keep one guy in the role. I have no problem with bringing in competition, but I have a big problem with bringing in a guy who does one job when we currently have someone who does both.

Nick is one highest paid kickers in League ..
2008 Stats
2008 Punting Nick avg 47.4 per kick best in the league
his Field goal was 77 % in 2008 (should be around 80 IMO)

2009 Stats
Punting He Drop to 42.9 almost a lost of 6 yards per kick(he was 2nd in Avg behind Dales of Calgary)
His Field goal % Dropped to 76.0
85.7 was Sandro Deangelis

We need kicker who can kick 80% or Better on Field Goals to win close games.
76 is not good enough
