'Every day is important': Roughriders’ backup QB battle still undetermined in

Trying to keep them both or see who is willing to make a trade.

My guess is we’ll keep 4 of 5 QBs – like we have the past few seasons – with Coan being the odd man out.
Hope Patterson beats out Fine at back-up. Fine looked good last week, but then he always looks good in the preseason. Different story the rest of the year.

I’m with you on that. I think Patterson has more upside.

Take that with a grain of salt though; I’m the guy who made the same prediction regarding Rocky Butler, Joey Elliott, and Stanley Jackson.

Who???

Plus 10

Doesn’t look we will have 4 QB’s unless they sign someone new. Both Fine and Pipkin have been released outright. (Good move IMHO)

I still feel bad for Rocky Butler. I always thought he was underrated and just never got the right opportunity

Maybe we can get Dolegala back?

Guess Rider brass weren’t as high on Fine as I thought.
Given our track record with QB injuries I’m a little surprised we’re only going with 3. But that being the case I’m not surprised with their choice of Coan over Pipkin – Pipkin isn’t an accurate passer, and at 25 Coan has more upside.
I’m sure money factored into these decisions as well. Overall I agree, good moves.
