On the face of it, this looks like a terrible deal for the Elks. IMHO they don’t need another rookie Canadian receiver who’s going to probably ride the pine and maybe someday be a decent starter. That defense of theirs stinks. What the Elks truly need is a Canadian body who can start right away and that kind of unpolished rookie is almost always a defensive lineman or a linebacker.

I honestly don’t know what Chris Jones is thinking here. He’s tossed away next year’s first round pick for a player that he probably won’t be able to turn into a competent starter until… next year.

I agree ! Chris Jones is desperate and seems to be pulling out all the stops in order to get someone who might get a victory once in a while. A first round pick next year could be the first over all the way the Elks are progressing this year. And this is the last year of Jones’ contract so he might not even be around.

A last place team and no first round draft pick. What a way to pass the torch to the next guy.
