No surprises on that list. Guess you don’t wait around to let guys go.

Good luck to them all…hope they can find a place to play.

I’m hoping Cimankinda can find a spot in Ottawa–on the Sooners if not the Redblacks.

He was in tough becasue if you look at the depth chart, the elks have Beaudry listed at FB I think they want to keep him around as a development QB but his size and knowledge of the offence makes him a good fit at FB in the meantime.

No surprises in that round of cuts by the Elk. The only surprise is that they are still foolishly referring to themselves as “Elks”.

Why is that a surprise? It’s their name.

Probably because the proper plural of “elk” is “elk”.

No that was debunked a long time ago. Either elk or elks is proper. For about 1400 years.

And all this time I thought that the plural of elk was elkimos .

Yeah, no surprises. My understanding is Jones likes to let them go early to give them a better chance to catch on with another team. The Bombers have some good punters, ironically. The Elk’s (or Elks’ - see, you can use the “s” Monty), have some issues with their kicking game. Really don’t see Faithfull being the answer. With the surprise release of Castillo, do the Elks pick up a cast off from another team? IMO that’s the biggest question with the Elks right now, plus who the newcomers are @ DB. Also wonder why Grymes didn’t play. Perhaps you know.

The “deer” family & fish seem to have this quirk with plurals.

Me too. Those frozen Elkimo Pies they sell at Commonwealth Stadium are finger lickin’ good.

I have been a fan of the CFL since the 1970’s. What I find today is with the player turnover, that Even with my favorite team. I don’t know players names any longer. I still recognize some, but more promotion has to be done with name recognition. Especially in sports.

That’s a fact in any sport, there is always someone behind you waiting to take your job.

Jones dispensing with a large batch of training camp fodder early just makes it easier for him to control the next batch (batches) of fodder. Must be disappointing for Elk fans to watch helplessly as this once proud franchise flounders aimlessly.
Jones may not be a managerial genius but I suspect his next batch of player recruits will include at least 1 baller from each of the other 8 CFL teams (ie. letting other GMs do the recruiting for him) plus a few extras. Too early for Jones to await NFL cuts - but quality NFL cuts have been proven to be sparing in recent years; other than the usual abundance of fast/quick running backs and DBs who can run like the wind and tackle the same way!

Websters says either Elk or Elks is acceptable for a group.

Yes, and having played both pre-season games, They have a couple weeks to work out the guys they are keeping and get ready for the first regular season game. It’s much easier to coach a smaller number of players and it costs money to house and feed guys too.

If the coaches have seen what they need to see, why drag things out? If the guys who are still there are what the team needs, then let the others move on. If the guys who are still there are not what the team needs, then open up some spots to find the right guys. Either way, earlier is better.

Well ELK FANS ! Here is a deal you just can’t wait to get involved with
I understand that the ELK organization is offering a GUARANTEED WIN DEAL. Here are the details
“The Elks are running a “guaranteed win” promotion for the Saskatchewan game in 2 weeks, where a limited number of fans can buy a ticket and keep attending games at no added cost until there is a home win.”

So if you like watching the ELKS lose at home at least it won’t cost you but 1 ticket all season.
