The D talk bodes well for your future. Suggest you spend the money on your Oline. Ever wonder what your offence would look like if your QBs weren’t always running for cover? Never had much use for Cody as a pocket passer although he did make big strides near the end of his first year in Montreal. He isn’t the same QB that he was in Sask.
Cody is more mature for sure, his mouth got him in a little trouble before. Tre seems to be just the opposite, maybe a little too quiet. A QB has to be a leader in the dressing room and on the sidelines as well as on the field. There’s a time to be vocal but when you are you learn to say the right things.
I predict Tre Ford will end up in Ottawa.
Yes, that may very well be what happens. Ottawa will be a rebuild, but perhaps a good spot for Tre to compete with Dru Brown or as back up. Ottawa is starved for wins, but it could be some exciting football there with a Tre Ford and Geno Lewis connection once again. If Tre Ford is traded or released this year, I have a feeling the EE may consider Taylor Powell as a back up. He’s not proven and we only saw him play in one Hamilton game briefly. (Nyles Morgan took him out rather quickly) I have heard nothing to indicate they are considering moving Cole Snyder up or if he’s even developed enough.
All season i felt that Ottawa’s biggest problem was their unreliable secondary. Was that coaching or personnel?
Is Ottawa a good fit for Ford? He might be better off behind an aging vet that still gets it done more or less. Hamilton might be a good fit although if going with your thought process, how about Montreal?
Montreal may not be a bad fit as Davis Alexander as well seems a bit prone to injury. Although, it seems the system Maas uses there is somewhat similar to the Maksymic offense that Tre Ford struggled with here. If he’s learned more of the system while he was sitting this year then maybe it could work. Although, Maas may not want a QB that is not so structured. Tre Ford does look to use his legs to extend plays. Would he be able to fit another mold that may expect him to stay in the pocket most of the time? He was stapled to the pocket here with Maksymic. The intention may have been to make him more rounded, but unfortunately they went too far. With Hamilton, perhaps that would be another spot. Depending on if Bo Levi is still there and doesn’t retire. I couldn’t see them bringing Tre Ford in this next season otherwise.
Hervey as much as said that the veterans who were injured were very involved & he’s quite happy with them. I expect Ceresna will be back & Barlow had a VG season & landed high on the PFF ratings for his position.
They do need some veterans & it’s not as if they are old. Ceresna’s 31, Barlow & Curtis 27. There’s a lot of GC rings on that D with the veterans - Metchie, Brinkman, Smith have 2 each, Ceresna & Barlow one each. So they know how to win. I really like their back end with Ross, Jackson & Logan joining Metchie & Ford. They’re all signed as are all the much talked about LB’s. Like I said, quite a lot of the pieces are in place for next year so it’s something Elk fans should get excited about.
It’s something of an anomaly. The rookies set the bar for the All Stars. Did the DC use them wrong or did they lack motivation? Expect that the guys that are back will rise to it next season.
Excellent point. And you’re absolutely right.
IMO, with all the GC rings coming over on D, maybe they were a bit too full of themselves. The DL was brought over pretty much intact from the Argos & were dominant there. But they struggled big time - Robbie Smith in particular.
Nathan says run faster
you’re absolutely right about that one I don’t have to tell you the Argos make a lot of mistakes and this season was the worst letting most of the defense walk I can call a long list of QB the ARGOS LET GO SOME STILL PLAYING AND ALL OF THEM WAS IN DOUBLE BLUE. BUT IF I CALL all OF THEM it will take until the cows come home enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Did the Argos make a mistake? I’d bet that had they known there would be a 400k SMS hike and that Kelly would be 6 gamed all year, Then they would have retained the whole lot of them.
I agree
with you but ARGOS have this belief they can replace who ever leave it didn’t happen this year. if they had a decent defense they would have made it to the playoffs
almost every year they have a new team you don’t win championships like that
