I don’t care if he doesn’t get any picks as long as he makes recievers think twice when they go over the middle on that crossing route.
Don’t get me wrong I’m not comparing him to Hitchcock, because obviously Barker isn’t anywhere near that level yet, but Rob Hitchcock was a great safety and he never made a lot of picks. I’d love to see Barker laying the lumber over the middle in the same way, and he has the raw skill to be able to do it, and as he develops I hope to see more of that. He’s still in many ways a work in progress, but if he never becomes an interception guy… it won’t matter if he can do the other things well.
Agreed. But maybe with a little extra tip-drill practice or even just receiving practice, he could be even better.

Barker making receivers think twice aboot getting torepedoed is huge.
This guy is only gonna get better.
Barker, you are a good young player, but you catch like a girl, dude. It needs a lot of work. You should have 4 picks by now. They were all right in your hands!
I have a feeling it will be tonight (Saskatchewan, September 25th)…
Props to BWW for his correct pick as well!
Upon review, sorry Russ, but Josh beat you to calling it.
I saw the thread buried on the main page earlier today…no biggie!
Glad Dylan got the simian off his spine.
Well, I think you two could be considered co-winners of that award for calling it, but again, Josh gets credit for calling it first.
And it was good to see him catch one he would have dropped earlier. That was not what I’d call an easy one.

We were killing ourselves in the stands laughing that he finally caught one. Good Call Blogskee.
In a Sunday newspaper, there is a photo by Mike Cassese, Reuters of Barker making the interception. I kid you not ..... his eyes are closed! Can't find it online to share it with you. Wish I could.
After a little more searching … found it:

Hey, if that’s what it takes for him to catch the ball, I say go for it. Whatever works.
Of course, if that’s how he always goes for the ball, it might explain his previous drops.
Barker will go on to be the best safety in the CFL, But not in a Ticat jersy, im sure he will bail, and head west as a F.A., Cant blame him

I think you’re right on your first point, and hope you’re wrong on your second. I like the way the guy plays - tough on the blitz, and pretty good closing on receivers. (Just wish he had wrapped up on Dressler instead of just trying to push him out of bounds on his rolling catch. Might have saved the touchdown.)
That one was a beauty, hopefully that's all he needed to get his confidence back.I'm expecting a strong overall performance from the Cats this week.
This is Barkers interception, enjoy!
