Loosing $3000 on the daily double seemed to take the wind out of his sails.
Good try though Peter. Not too many people make Alex laugh like you did.

Peter looked completely nervous the whole time. He must still be kicking himself today about missing the daily double.
It looked like he new a lot of the answers but was having trouble buzzing in.
At times, Peter looked like a deer caught in headlights. I think the reality of appearing on television coast to coast in two countries along with Trebek, lights and audience got the best of him. His good looks and sense of humour made his poor showing forgivable, however. Did I just say, "good looks?"
I noticed that as well. I have heard that getting the timing right is quite tricky. Buzz too early, and it locks you out for a second or two. Buzz too late, and another contestant has beaten you to it.
Being on a quiz show can be quite humbling - spoken from personal experience. (I answered two whole questions on my 15-minutes-of-fame contest back in high school.) It’s tempting to not buzz in until you know the answer - so you don’t look stupid giving the wrong answer or no answer - but by then it’s usually too late. Most of the successful Jeopardy contestants buzz in before they know the answer (question?), and you see them still thinking about it once they are called on.
But yes, he did occasionally look llike a deer in the headlights. But in his defence, he was up against two very good contestants - the man who defeated Julia the night before, and a woman who looks like she could go on to rival Julia’s record in the next few weeks.
For those interested, Dyakowski was on Tim and (no) Sid during Wednesday’s show to talk about his appearance on Jeopardy. He also talks about the challenges of “buzzing in” at the right time.
