Drew Tate 2-0...Is this it for Smilin Hank In Calgary?

For the second week in a row, Tate looked very good again today. Three weeks if you count the game in Toronto when he came in to try and salvage the mess created by Burris. Is this enough for Calgary to annoint him as the unquestioned starter now? Or is it that Burris is hiding an injury and he'll be back in as the #1 once he gets healthy?

Smilin Hank will be 37 when next season starts. If Calgary can get a decent return for him in a trade, you gotta think it's a no brainer. Would Jim Barker be desperate/stupid enough to give up one of his top NIs in Foley or Durie for his old buddy Hank?

He'll be a backup or wearing a different jersey next year.

If Tate keeps playing this way till the end of the season, Burris will be traded likely to Hamitlon or Toronto.

I seriously doubt Hank is hiding an injury, as he stated last week that he was ready for action.

And even if Burris was healthy and healthy enough to return, it is highly unlikely Huff would retract Tate who is playing excellent football.
Tate is #1 (injury permitting)and Burris is the designated #2 guy now, whether Hank agrees or not.

It will take an atrocious game for Tate to be pulled at this point, including the playoffs.

Very exciting, it has been a long time since we've seen two QB's establish themselves in the same season and Lulay and Tate seem to have done that. We are still short a few more, maybe Mcpherson is one, Boltus possibly.

we may never know about Boltus as he gets as much playing time as a loon in a straightjacket.
MB needs to give him real time action.

as for McPherson, he get a few snaps here and there, and will likely take over the full time reigns in short time.

After the win against the Al's, hank is done as a stampeder. So who is the 2nd stringer now in cowtown?

If the Ti-Cats winless playoff streak continues into its 11th year then my guess is Hamilton. Toronto will give Jyles a shot with a fresh season before they look at any other QBs.

And so they would shoot themselves in the foot once again?

The Argos are best served by cleaning house for the most part. It starts with Jim Barker.

Keep Durie and Boyd and find an entirely new receiving corps and start over again with some more QBs if you want a serious playoff future again.

For all the talk about how bad Lemon was especially by the haters who thought it should be easy for any given team to find the next Ricky Ray, and sure there was not going to be much of a future with Lemon in there anyway especially with this receiving corps, Jyles is not playoff material as was even Lemon in that first season with even a win.

For Barker, necessity with be the driver of the trade I think. And then perhaps he'll try to use Burris to help groom someone new like perhaps Bell or a new find again.

Of course it’s anything but given that that Argos won’t clean house after this awful season starting with Barker.

Your not going to get a blockbuster trade for Burris. He's 37 and every team in the league know Calgary will not pay 3 t0 400k to have Henry pout on the bench.

I don't see Henry's ego allow him to be a backup. So unless he goes somewhere with a shot to compete for a starting job, I think this guy is done as far as the CFL.

He'll be the next Michael Bishop of the CFL. Tate is shining, and it looked like Burris had never attempted a QB sneak before. I think Barker will put his offence into the hands of Jyles for next year. IMO, it is safe to say that this could be the end of Henry Burris' career as a Stamp.

Assuming Barker gets to keep his job. I can't see him not being interested in Burris. He inquired prior to the season and now can get him for pretty much nothing.

Burris will be another Kerry Joseph if anything.

Strange, you Rider fans were sure upset when he left town... Still call him names five years later.

T.O will get Burris I have no doubt Barker is already thinking about it, Burris is getting older but he has something Jyles doesn't a Grey Cup ring and experience. I'm not saying Burris is going to lead the Argos to the promise land but if the Argos want to sell season tickets they have to pitch to the public they are serious on changing the line-up QB is a good start.

What Barker has to do the minute the season is over, assuming he get’s to keep his job, is take his butt on the road and go recruiting. Instead of spending time on figuring out who he’s gonna grab off the FA market. There will be plenty of time for that in Feb. Argos should have a minimum of 10 camps down south and Barker and his staff should be well represented at every CIS playoff game and visiting with their coach and players. If you look at both Winnipeg and Toronto’s program, they both got overhauled at the same time but Winnipeg by having an active GM and Coach have made huge strides in finding and developling players compared to Toronto. CFL coach and GM’ss make 250 to 500k a year. Its a twelve month job. Throw in the damn air flight if he can’t go anywhere without his Mona and get her done.

The Argos need a #1 receiver more then they need a QB, simply because a QB without a top tier receiver is never going to be successful.

Mann should help (even though he was largely ineffective in his first game) in the long run, but they need a game breaker of the Simon or Richardson mold.

Jyles will get better, although how much better is anyone's guess, but I do admire his athletic ability and believe he can be a quality starter in this league if future serious injuries are not a factor.
