The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed import running back/kick returner Dominique Dorsey to a contract.

Dorsey spent the majority of the 2009 season with the NFL's Washington Redskins before returning to the Toronto Argonauts for the final four games of the CFL season.

The UNLV product originally signed in the CFL with the Roughriders in 2005 and spent two seasons with the Green and White until signing as a free agent with the Argonauts prior to the 2007 season.

In 54 games played in the CFL, Dorsey had 145 kickoff returns for 3,239 yards and two touchdowns and 212 punt returns for 2,301 yards and two touchdowns. In addition, the 26-year-old had 119 carries for 657 yards and four touchdowns plus 26 receptions for 381 yards.

Dorsey's kick returning talent was acknowledged at the conclusion of the 2008 season when he was named the CFL's Most Outstanding Special Teams Player.

i guess this means Wes Cates is on his way out of Riderville!
( possibly Armstead as well )

Great signing by Riders, looking forward to seeing him more often in the west.

This got one hell of a nasty string of expletives from me when I saw the headline...

me too! it almost certainly means that Cates is finding a new home.

Yeah, it sucks for the Riders, but I was selfishly thinking about my own team... I don't want Dorsey running against the Eskimos four times this season.

Dorsey is an outstanding returner but he's never proven he can be the #1 RB on a team. In 5 seasons with the Argos, he rushed the ball 119 times and caught 26 passes.

I could only dream that Dorsey does to you, as what the Giz did to us....

so where does that put the argos in filling this position?

Maybe they'll make a bid for Cates. Although he's probably got more mileage on him than Robertson does, despite the age difference. They'd be better served bringing in 4 22 year old NCAA grads and finding a player out of them.

I’ve seen some reports that Cates will sign with the Argos. Isn’t Barker the one who originally brought Cates into the league?

Him or Dunigan.

Just looked it up... Cates was signed as an FA by the Stamps in 2006 when Barker was GM.
