....what do you mean can't ban him because he has a ticket?....the cops can ban anyone they think will cause a public disturbance...without cause....just because you possess a ticket doesn't give you carte blanche to do whatever you like...

The Police aren’t banning Gainer, the Stamps are. I personally don’t care about Gainer, I do care about my cities reputation. For as far back as I can remember we brag about Calgary Hospitality, White Hatter Hospitality etc., now we engage in a cheap publicity stunt, banning a gopher.
Wearing a gopher suit does not in itself cause a public disturbance. Check with Chief Beaton and ask him if the CPS is making any special plans to combat unruly gophers, after he stops laughing, you may get a response. After that try Animal Services, they can use a laugh too. Check with the Fire Department as well, there are after all many fires caused by rodents chewing on wiring, if the rodent has a name does that make it arson. Maybe try the Alberta Rat Patrol, get him at the border.
Public disturbance, let’s see, over the years how many public disturbances have been caused by gophers. Can’t think of any off the top of my head. Maybe we better check with the Gopher Hole Museum. They’re just North of Calgary you know.

Yes, if push comes to shove, the police or the Stamps have the right to deny anybody exclusion for any reason. If the Stampeders wanted to exclude anyone dressed in green, they could. That being said, I find it extremely unlikely that they would. My entire point is that banning the oppositions mascot is a very poor exercise in public relations and that a banishment from the field does not have to extend to the seating area. I would suggest you could make an arguement to ban "the Flame" guy because it contravenes Calgary's open burning by-law, but to the best of my knowledge Calgary does not have a by-law outlawing gopher costumes.
One other thing, even though I will be cheering for the Stamps, if Gainer does show up, I will be standing and cheering for him being there and I doubt I will be alone. On a couple of local(Calgary) sites, the question of the day is whether the Stamps should be banning the gopher and it is running about 2/3 of those responding say no. Remember these are Calgary poles. Check qr77 for one.

....I understand your point about the PR aspect cfleskfan, but since when is it the job of the organization, any organization for that matter, to cater to the whims of their opposition?....isn't that what securing home feild advantage is all about.....do you think the Yankees mgmt bend over backwards to make sure the RedSox fans are accomodated, or vice versa?...of course not, so all this whining (and yes 69, thats what it is) isn't going to change that....if the situation were reversed, say Sask had the WSF and we were the guests, I would think, 'what the hell would Ralph the Dog be going there for, that's Gainers territory, he'll probably get pummeled'....no different here...as for your poles, like 25% of Calgarians these days are transplanted rider fans, so the 'facts' as they are presented can not truley be argued as untainted...as well, I could answer a pole in Timbuktu from the comfort of my computer here...

I would agree if it was the Riders brass selling the t-shirts. Teams executives should not be competing on the level with some idiots sleazy attempt to make a buck. Some fans moronic gesture is no excuse for actions that belong in the playground. Bottom line is this is still a petty ploy by Hellard.
