Dominant Defence: Als punch ticket to GC110 with win over Argos

TORONTO — Led by the strength of their defence, the Montreal Alouettes have punched their ticket to the 110th Grey Cup.

WOW! That was bizarre. Kelly was sleep walking into the third quarter. It was as though he believed it impossible for him and the Argos to lose and, too, that he could just put balls in the air and they would magically end up where he hoped they would. That was just weird. All credit to the Als though for putting together a complete game: offense, defense, and special teams. Still, WOW! That was a mugging! This is the kind of game that makes the CFL so special. You think you know and think a game will go some kind of way and, BOOM! Not today! AMAZING!

When you play as a team and not individuals, something magic happens

What is your no upset predictions after that one way win by the ALS ??

The Als deserved to win - they simply outplayed the Argos. As a Tiger Cat fan, I am very happy to see the the Argos staying home and watching the Grey Cup and crying in their beer.

No Argo stink in the Ticats locker room next week. Just some bird droppings.

How hilarious is it that Maas and Fajardo made it to the Grey Cup one year after being the scapegoats in Rider nation.

How can anyone have seriously expected the loss?

The Als NEVER beat a team with a winning record all season (& preseason)
They feasted on the have nots in Sask, Ham, Ott while losing every game to the teams with 9+ wins

I did expect them to cover the spread but Toronto choked big time

I wasn’t expecting a win, though I’m an Als fan. But I will say that I thought we had a better chance than everyone thought. The last two losses against Toronto were close ones. And the Als were climbing upward at the back end of the season, particularly as they got healthy players back from the 6-game.

This is a bit surreal, though. I fully expected our season to be over today and now we have a chance to play for the Grey Cup!

Did you notice every Alouette contributed. James Tuck made 3 game changing plays, the most notable was his final block on the kickoff return. Antwi scores a touchdown. Everybody contributed
Congrats to the Als who played the most amazing defensive game I have witnessed

I don’t understand how so many people were down on the ALs. Two missed field goals on the last Toronto game otherwise they win. They were ahead in in that game. They played the last two games toe to toe with Toronto.
They didn’t get blown out. A couple of bad penalties and and two missed field goals over two games doesn’t constitute a pushover.
I’m glad they made a statement.
Go AlS!

Glad to see the Argos defeated. I will be cheering your Als at THF next week. We didnt get our hometown team in the GC, but the Als are the next best choice. ( I have a feeling it will be an Als crowd too)

The Montreal Alouettes are now 1 victory away from reaching their Great 8 achievement. The Als are now riding a 7 game win streak entering their Grey Cup game next week versus the mighty Bombers. :exclamation: The numbers are all lining up perfectly if they upset the Bombers in the 110th Grey Cup game. :football: :canada:

One could see it that way. Or one could see it as the Als were a much better team top to bottom yesterday.

Can someone confirm this for me. At the end of the Argo game, after the whistle blew, did QB Kelly just run off the field to the locker room without shaking hands with any of his opponents? If so pretty unsportsman like dont you think?

Apparently he did.

There is a thread started that deals in part with this behaviour.
