DISGUISTING GLOBAL NEWS TORONTO IN WINDSOR FOR THE SNORE

Will & Grace pappa I am disappointed in you! You need a girlfriend ha ha ha ha

OK.....I have a question:

Being an american who has never been to either Windsor or Detroit, I was wondering what kind of relationship these two international cities posess?

I have heard mentions on TV over the years regarding Windsor and Detroit being "sister cities" Could someone fill me in on this?

windsor helped pay for detroits superbowl bid!

As someone who’s visited Windsor seven times since 1990 (long story), I believe the two cities have a unique relationship. They’re both “border buddies” with only the Detroit River (the US/Canada border in that area) seperating them. Detroit and Windsor share the busiest border crossing between the two countries: the Ambassador Bridge for the freight trucks, and the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel for more passenger-friendly vehicles. (a somewhat close third would be the Bluewater Bridge between Port Huron, Michigan and Sarnia, Ontario about a couple hundred miles or so to the north).

For years, Windsor would get a ton of American tourists to their casino (and according to some news reports, some of their peel joints too). Detroit has counteracted with a couple casinos of their own, but Casino Windsor seems to be the more profitable (I think the non-taxation of winnings plays a hand in that).

obviously you must have seen it a couple of times …red… you seem to know what its about…I only catch blurbs on that particular show cuz mamazoola watches it…not my favourite show…whats your opine on it…

For the past 2 or 3 years all I heard about in the CFL is expansion if the right opportunity presents itself, this week Tom Wright is going to meet with the mayor of Windsor, if the interset is there for expansion give them a preseason game this year reschdule and argo - ticat preseason game. I heard that Halifax is the main city they want to expand to but they have been talked about for almost twenty years and no stadium has been built,

The bottom line neither city, with the possible exception to QC at Laval which can easily be expanded, has a stadium nor any apparent owner. Cash and construction is this case is king.

...I would like to see Quebec get a CFL. franchise......you can see that they are very' into' football...and with their enthusiasm ..that element alone makes up for alot....too bad Ottawa didn't have as much...it seems to have died there....at any rate...I believe Quebec city should not be overlooked by the CFL....it could go over big ...they just need someone with a little foresight to take it on....and alot of cash is essential...

if u give QC a team, then montreal has 2 labour-day rivals, but only one labour-day....

thats why i think it's best to expand into halifax, and if ottawa cant get fan support above 24 000 by that time, then move the gades to QC.

.......the current mayor in QC is not, repeat NOT, keen at all in entertaining a sports franchise in her town.........read into that no local support from the municipal government level.........

current mayor…but by the time halifax gets a team, she probably wont be mayor anymore.

What about the owners of Casino Windsor?? they would surely have the money for a stadium and a team no?

Thanks for the answer Mongo...that helps quite a bit!

I think there is a TV show after the Bore that has the best commercials. At least there was

YYYAAAWWWNNNN . Wow some guys sure do obssess about the people watching NFL even though they claim to not care themselves. Sounds like some sort of jealousy to me.
News Flash , the CFL season's over, they can't cover the CFL when it's not happening. If anyone doesn't like the Superbowl they aren't forcing you to watch it.
I get tired of all the westcoast media obssessing about the Canucks 24-7all year long too . But i just ignore them , I don't talk about it everyday unlike some NFL haters. Today I'm just happy to have the NHL pushed out of the spotlight for one day.
If you're obssessed with superbowl hate , it's got control over you , and your life revolves around it . Just let it go Argotom(and a couple of others) you'll be much happier if you do. It's only a TV show to us ,and atleast it's not American Idol.

I forgot to mention one thing. GO SEAHAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Penn your opinion is duely noted and you are certainly entitled to same. Some of us merely point out how we are not influenced nor engulfed by this propoganda that has taken over from the game itself. Being Super Snore Sunday. Since when did the calendar among other things change. You will be surprised to know as I believe the TV numbers will bare out, how the vast majority in our country could not care less about the game and its hype. The Grey Cup is king in this country with the TV numbers that do not lie.

I am proud to live in Toronto. I could care less if people hate this city because we have other pro sport franchises or if people watch the superbowl here. The funniest thing is when I hear people say "oh they want to be americans" judging by leagues who want to put a team here because of our thriving population. Seriously, just stop the hate already, enjoy what you got.

But yeah, the superbowl this year sucked.

its funny that toronto wants so many 'major' sports teams....cuz once they get the team, they hate on them anyways....

they wanted an NBA team, to be 'world class'...now the fans and media hate the raps.

same with the Jays....and it would happen to the NFL as well....might be cool for a few years, but going 10 years without the playoffs....fans would forget the NFL.

good point dg.

My take on the Canadian media is that they love to say how Canada is the greatest country when it's convenient for them for ratings. Canadian media has to start concentrating on Canada and stop hyping the American major events because for some reason they never live up to the hype. Grey Cup is Canada's party so there should be tons of hype from the Canadian media for the game. I see more Super Bowl ads than Grey Cup ads from Canadian media. That's just doesn't seem right. I couldn't even imagine if for some insane reason the Grey Cup and the Super Bowl were played in the same 2 weeks.
