Desjardins/Taaffe 2007 ;)

Not that it is official by any stretch, but I would like to be the first to launch a thread with this tandem featured in it.

I think the hire does point to this happening if Taaffe is indeed free at the conclusion of his interim hire at OC at Pitt.

From Steve Milton's article today:

"Charlie Taaffe has a job this year, but that doesn't mean he won't become the Tiger-Cats' head coach next season.

In fact, the two-time CFL coach of the year would love to come here to Hamilton.

"Yes, absolutely," Taaffe, on a one-year contract at the University of Pittsburgh, told The Spectator yesterday. " I said when I left Montreal it wasn't because of the league or the country. I enjoyed it, but it was for family reasons. Now, I could do it."

The coach search is going on, but I think its focus has just gotten narrower.

Oski Wee Wee,

I think Desjardins/Taffe is a certainty!

Here is a primer on Charlie Taaffe. The third article is particularly illuminating regarding Charlie's game preparation, attention to detail, and ability to raise the mental level of his QBs.

Oski Wee Wee,

I don't care who the coach is, as long as there is a major upgrade in talent here. There is too much blaming the coaches, it starts with the players. This team is starting to look like a dog chasing its own tale.

Wow. I surely hope that Desjardins is already negotiating with him and that we have him under contract by the end of the week, to start the day his Pitt contract expires. I don't know if this is legal, and it certainly wouldn't be announced right away, but it sounds like it would be awesome.

The biggest thing we can do: FIND FIVE GOOD MEN.

Fix the O-line and things will start being competitive again. The other areas of the team need to be added to, not added by subtraction.

I think people will be surprised when we start to see that we move from the “oooooooooh we got a new guy” fan reaction mode to “Marcel strikes again!” Clockwork, Jim Popp style.

I think that if Marcel and Mike McCarthy click, things will be that good scary.

Oski Wee Wee,

Russ:

Thanks for the info.
So Marcel and Charlie Taffe worked with each other in Montreal. Looking more like this duo could be re-united in Hamilton :rockin: .
Time for you to move back too Russ!

What are the hours?

Oski Wee Wee,

Posted this on another topic but I can see Taaffe (great coach and motivater) coming to Hamilton..With those two here there will be a sense of urgency and accountablity...Also to show that he was a good coach the offensive coaches he had at the time are now head coaches Maocicia sp? and Berry that makes three teams that run is offence MON, WIN, EDM..good luck and hopefully he comes

Russ: can you think of any current Alouettes that Desjardins/Taaffe would be able to lure to Hamilton for 2007? (i.e. free agenst)
