After Week 2
PASS-RUSHER OF THE WEEK: EDGE JULIAN HOWSARE, CALGARY STAMPEDERS
Howsare didn’t record a sack this week, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t effective. His 90.5 pass-rush grade led the league, and it wasn’t even close. Howsare recorded three hits, two hurries and an additional four pass-rush wins. His 25.0% win percentage was the highest in the league among defenders with more than 15 pass rush snaps.
RUN DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: DI SHAWN OAKMAN, TORONTO ARGONAUTS
Oakman struggled rushing the passer this week, which is why he didn’t make it to the “Team of the Week.” However his play against the run deserves big praise. Oakman was the highest-graded run defender (81.1), with 40% of his run defense snaps resulting in a positive grade for him. He had two defensive stops and was the biggest reason the Tiger-Cats’ run game gained a mere 11 yards before contact on 18 attempts.
COVERAGE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: HB TITUS WALL, CALGARY STAMPEDERS
There was a case for Wall to be the best defensive rookie in the CFL last year. He had a tough start to the season last week but if this week is any indication, he’s quickly rounding back into form. Wall was targeted four times in this game and allowed just two catches, breaking up the other two. Those two catches he did allow went for a mere 14 yards, and he made the tackle short of the sticks on both.
A bit more info on QS:
If he had that name in Hollywood no one would believe it to be real.
Lol, just a run-of-the-mill CFL name though.
