I don't know that the officiating was much better this year, but that's just standard in sports. I hope we ditch the stupid PI challenge rule next year, that was the only thing that really bugged me this year.
First year for Johnson so there was bound to be a few growing pains. Ultimately there were many growing pains and the league needs to seriously address how the game was called and take a harder look at the individual officials.
As for the Grey Cup game, I expected nothing short of a complete disaster when I saw Proulx as crew cheif and was confident the game would end on a controversial flag. I was half right but for the wrong reason. Proulx and his crew did a good job in that game and while the game was decided on a controversial flag, which is only controversial because of the conspiracy minded of a very few, it was the correct call.
I never thought I would say this about an Andre Proulx called game, but......job w..........job wel............job well done. Damn that was still hard to cough up.
New Head of Officiating, new safety orientated rules and some real crackdown on certain behaviors has been a curve that the players have not yet caught up with, but have to agree that this was the most consistant I recall seeing officiating, and that is the biggest thing, thus a huge win. They need to improve consistancy in the replay booth, but onfield officiating, thumbs up for sure.
