Picked of the Saints PR and now on his way to the Bears according to TSN.

Well, Tressman certainly knows what he's getting. Maybe he'll actually get a chance to play there.

I'm kinda torn here...

The Chicago Bears are my team in the NFL...Have been for a very long time...

But the Tiger-Cats are my team up here...Have been for a very long time...

I don't like the way Williams handled his situation here at all...

I'm starting to wonder if Trestman is starting to stockplie talent knowing that Devon Hester is getting near the end of the line?

Have to admit after being a Vikes guy for so long as I can remember (Bud Grant days) I think it's over, I have so much respect for Marc Trestman I have to admit, it's now Bears all the way in the NFL.

I'm in a dilemma as well. Love Marc Trestman, dislike Chris Williams. Hope he falls on his face.

I wish him luck but I think Chris Williams was made for the CFL. He did very well here with a wider field and the emphasis on passing.
I am not so sure the NFL style of play will allow him to have the success he had here. He could very well be buried in the practice squad for the next 2 or 3 years just like Giguere in Indianapolis. However Trestman must see something in him.
My interest in the Bears has increased dramatically since Marc Trestman became the HC, so I'll be watching and reading to see what they do with CW.

I saw the Saints released him from the PR on xmass day now I know why.
Wiliams main role for now would be of the returner specialist and a 4th receiver.
Yes they have Devon Hestor and the Bears are in a position to be just in or just out of the playoffs.
Williams will not make a difference this season but he will be secured on the off season roaster I suspect for next years training camp and who knows what Hestors Plans or the Bears plans for him are.

The article says he was picked off the Saints' practice roster. If so, he has to be on the Bears' 53-man roster. Which means a pretty nice pay cheque - minimum $25K (give or take), if I calculate correctly, and maybe more depending on the size of his contract. And he might even get a chance to play.

Hester's a free agent this off season...

Great payout for CW, didn't play a down but earned $300,000

I didn’t realize he made that much this season. Twelve games on the Saints’ PR, now one game on the Bears’ roster. Any idea what his salary is or what signing bonus he received from the Saints?

He received 100K signing bonus from the Bears. He also made the league minimum even though he was on the practice squad with New Orleans. I am also assuming he will make the league minimum with insentive based contract with the Bears.

Hes on the roster all right.. and thanks to a typo on the Bears website hes a full grown 5 ft tall

82 Williams, Chris WR 5 175 26 1 New Mexico State

smurf.

not to belittle the man any more than many have.,..
he certainly went where the money is ... made more without a single game down than he would in two years in Canada...

I noticed that as well. I wonder which is closer to the truth, this or the 5-9 he was listed at on the Ticats’ web site when he was here.

On the roster, but as a receiver, not as a returner. I’m assuming this roster includes the reserve, which I would expect him to be one of.

well, according to TSN reporter Farhan Lalji Williams earned a total of $300,000 during the 2013 fiscal year including the $100,000 signing bonus from the Bears.

Considering Williams was paid approximately $78,000 while on the Saints PR (13 weeks X $6,000) which means that the Saints likely paid the speedster a $122,000 bonus.

Therefore,in 3 months on an NFL PR, Williams made $222,000 in bonuses alone, not including the $78,000 in base salary.

Not bad at all.

Whatever, I've moved past Williams and hope he showboats or shows his playing rust and gets canned. The Bears are still my #3 team behind the 49ers and the Steelers, so I'm not going to lose sleep over whatever he's doing.

I told everybody that would listen that he wouldn't play a down of football with the Saints this season. It really questions my whole belief in the NFL when a guy like Williams can literally sit on his ass all season, not play a single minute of a single game and collect a supposed 300,000. I mean sign me up for that job,I'm willing to bet anything that the Bears don't activate him for the game against the Packers. Williams hasn't played a down of football in over a year, but then again if he does play, how hard will it be for him to just throw up his arm,and wave for a fair catch,,like most NFL returners do these days.IMO it would be nice though to see him play, and get totally squashed like a bug on his first play
Welcome to the NFL!!!!!SuperStar!!!!! Whose Tressman going to sign next??? Calvillo perhaps!!!!!!  This thumbs down is for you Mr.Williams :thdn: :thdn: :thdn:

and he made this amount while being “employed” for a mere 3 months!
a good gig if you can get it.

admittedly, I still have a bad taste in my mouth at the manner in which Williams bailed on his TiCats contract and haven’t worn his jersey since then.

At what point are TC fans supposed to stop caring and stop following the comings and goings of CW ? Pretty sure I passed that awhile back.

So happy for him, and he did the right thing for his family, anyone of you would have done the exact same thing if you where in his position. FAMILY always comes first and Chris did exactly that! So I have no idea why the hate for him still exists! Hope he dresses for Sundays game against the Packers!
