Cutdown Tracker: Teams make their final roster moves

Sask may release some starters. Could see Breschasin the odd man out on offense. They’ve got some solid choices from camp at reciever

He did have a fairly significant injury at the end of last year. The question mark for some teams would be how he rebounded from that.

I challenge you on your statement “Bombers now have the best clutch place kicker in the league” ! The stats certainly do not support that claim. Rene Parades after 193 games (11 years) 494 attempts Average FG success rate = 87.6% Plus since 2015 (when Castillo entered the CFL) yearly success rate was in the 90% range 4 times with his worse rate in that time period was 87.2%. His average success rate Since 2015 (when Castillo entered CFL) was 88.8% for 374 attempts. In comparison Castillo’s average in 59 games (since 2015 or 7 years) was only 85.5% for 145 attempts his yearly success rate in the 90% range was only once with his worse yearly success rate in that period was 76.9%
These stats certainly prove Parades is superior to Castillo in any clutch situation and Parades has had, to many to count, walk off FGs that resulted in the Stamps getting the victory. So the best place kicker in the League is still Rene Parades not Castillo.

You can trot out all the regular season stats you want but I’m sticking to my position that Castillo is the best clutch kicker. As others have pointed out, the Bombers would have won the GC last year if he was doing the kicking.

Rather than explaining it again I’ll just link my previous post made a month ago when the Bombers signed him. In 2021 Castillo was undeniably the MVP of the GC in very windy conditions. That was the same year Paredes was out kicked by Lauther in the Western semi final.

Your statement about Dennis is wrong without proof. Prefixing it with “I think” or "in my opinion I guess that " might pass a law suit for character assassination.
One might think social media allows a person to say anything, but one day someone will prove that is the wrong attitude. Just saying, you might want to be careful what you post.

HA! HA! HA! I guess everyone are entitled to have an opinion. But the Bombers lost because they CHOKED and the Argos took advantage of that fact with their back up QB.

Uh ok sure , whatever you say . So be it for me to argue with a Stamp fan about a Winnipeg kicker . Honestly don’t know whatever I was thinking .
Please , please , please accept my sincere apologies I promise it won’t happen again . You should know more than anybody about what they say about opinions and what they are compared to .

Good luck this year with your Stampeders …because you are going to need it .

What do you mean - their starting QB completed a pass in pre season - they are ready to go…

Well if that’s the case then I guess there is no stopping them then .

sask and BC still not posted. Can’t even find Sask cuts on their webpage, and they are over an hour late in posting Coach Campbell said he wanted to get his cuts done early, due to playing on Thursday. He even had a practice with players who he is going to cut.

You do know this is not the official site the CFL teams submit their rosters. Maybe a penalty should be imposed to those who think it is.

I agree, a penalty is in order. Saskatchewan does not even list transactions on their own site.
BC still hasn’t listed.
None of this is fan friendly, when the league promises something and does not deliver. I don’t like teasers.
what is the official site that roster cuts are posted? And why would it not be the official site when it is accessed through the teams’ official sites?

Well that’s a Pegger fan post. Lol. Good on you. Meanwhile Peg gave looks to a bunch of retreads and let them go. Some real crappy players were in camp this year truth be told. Imo their worst recruiting year in quite sone time. But time will tell. With so many hohum players in camp this year… plus let’s breathe slower in how no one else’s cuts are worth a look but maybe Dennis. Most of not all teams feel pretty much the same. They might look at one or maybe two guys from other teams if a coach has a history or a scout feels connected. Etc. otherwise it’s meh, across the board for all. There’s was already room for real duds in pegs camp this year, let’s not forget.

As far as injuries go, lol. Every team has them. Heck the Riders have pinned their hopes on a left tackle who hasn’t seen the field in two weeks and their starting all star SAM hasn’t been in camp practicing yet. Every team has a list equal to non participants. Just for a reality check.

They get two days. They haven’t breached anything yet. Other teams were just fast and before the deadline. That’s their choice. Riders are always last and at the bell. As of writing this, I still think there’s even another 6 hours before the deadline.

Ya. No doubt. Just like the year before when they were gifted a GC victory. It seems they were more gifted the previous year than the gift they gave. If we are having historical reflection on gifts and chokes.

Also…

… only 85.5% for 145 attempts his yearly success rate in the 90% range was only once with his worse yearly success rate in that period was 76.9%These stats certainly prove Parades is superior to Castillo in any clutch situation and Parades has had, to many to count, walk off FGs that resulted in the Stamps getting the victory. My thought:

There’s a bunch of kicking gamers in a race for best clutch. Imo. It would be interesting to see the success rates of 50 plus yard game winning field goals by teams if the last ten years. And Miss rates under 50 yards in the last two minutes of games. It would be very interesting.

Nope, they are late, presuming all postings had to be with this site or their own sites Read the heading of this article.
Teams have until 10 p.m. of their respective local times on Saturday, June 3 to finalize their cuts.

The cuts are supposed to be made by 10 pm Saturday night local time

My error then. I thought 10 am local on Sunday morning. I’m off 12 hours. Riders had submitted to the deadline tge last few years to league office as was explained and reported last year. But it seems they’ve taken the organizational position to not publicly release for about another twelve hours afterwards. Letting players have time and the team. I can respect this. I’d do the same if in charge. Frankly.

Lemon might enter the conversation in Wpg - but only if O’Shea’s dubious d-line gets pushed around in Week 1 vs. Hamilton. Lemon might be a good short-term fix until the Bombers lay eyes on a d-line tough guy from NFL cuts in September.

I don’t think Leggio will be picked up immediately (ie. 3 or 4 days after being cut in Wpg.) but some teams would have to be foolish to let him linger in free agency too long.

Edmonton would be Gramma’s first bet to supply Leggio with new work. Leggio is a proven punter (3rd or 4th in league) who also isn’t afraid to get his nose dirty on returns vs. wimps like Troy Westwood who used to just get into parallel running races with the returner but never crossed over in an attempt to tackle. Leggio isn’t a great FG kicker (78% average is only slightly better than stompers like Westwood and/or Trevor Kennard way back when) but he’s a canuck and if he lets his contract be restructured would be a decent add to a practice roster on a team with iffy kicking.
