Craig Dickenson's ineptitude

Cody Fadjardo. It’s a shame that Cody had to be the fall guy for inept coaching in Saskatchewan, not to forget an injury and a bum leg. What Craig Dickenson basically did was throw Cody under the bus for others failure. Craig lacks class and tack to be a head coach. He could take some lessons from big brother Dave, who knows how to handle difficult players but yet is will respected as a coach. Craig sits at the kiddee table at the Dickenson household for an obvious reason.

I’m not as impressed with little brother Dave as you are, But I am in great agreement with you about Craig. I think you have to put some blame on management also. If the brass didn’t check into the CHARACTER of thugs like Garrett Marino and Duke Williams before signing them that puts the GM and scouting in the spotlight too. Without them Dickenson MIGHT have done a better job with the rest of the players, but maybe not.

I can agree for one reason only - discipline. It’s still lacking. Last week it was obvious its still a problem. The first two DQ infractions of the season go to…The Riders.

It has become obvious there was more than met the eye to the goings on last year - especially at the end of the season.

I now think Craig was messing around with the offence and Oline and when you have two coaches you have confusion.

I can’t argue about that. He might have been trying to keep Jason Maas from going totally bonkers, but just complicated matters.
If Dickenson doesn’t get serious about discipline and composure, I don’t see them getting back to competing for the top of the division. Let’s see if any of the new players can show better discipline than the veterans.

I think it was more than that. Rather than stick with the plan Craig was running his own show on offence and changing plays. When Maas did go bonkers and they followed the game plan - they were good.

What I think happened ? Craig wanted the big play down the field offence and they didn’t have the people to play that game. Maas adjusted game plan and Craig over ruled what he was trying to do, in the end there was something that went on between the three and Craig went on to coach the total disaster at the end of the season when the Riders could have salvaged a playoff game but looked terrible, inept, and disorganized. The dishonesty that went before that was something that should have got him fired. If he’s dishonest with one guy…

I certainly agree with comments of inadequate or dumbness of coaches and management When i played in cfl for 12 years we had Eagle Keys as a very good smart coach when we won1966 Grey Cup and if he would have stayed with us Riders we would have won 2 or 3 more as we went to 1967 1968or 69& 1972 cups with dumb and dumber coaches that I will not mention names as I am trying hard to forget their names and inadaquite stupidity

If he wanted and didn’t get the big-play offense last year, I can’t see how he’ll get it this year with Trevor Harris, who doesn’t have the arm anymore to go deep consistently and who looks his best running a short-passing timing offense.

I’ll be interested to see whether Dickenson will let his OC Jeffrey call the plays or whether he’ll try to mix in again. And to what extent Andre Bolduc, the new run game coordinator, will be consulted. Bolduc’s a smart guy with a nice resume of experience in Montreal. If Dickenson and Jeffrey are wise, they’ll lean on Bolduc.

I’m betting Jeffrey will learn as much from Harris as from Bolduc.

I don’t know Dickenson will learn much. Their first 6 games are going to be tough divisional games (Edmonton x2, Winnipeg, Calgary x2, BC) and if they are below 3 and 4 I think we will see interim head coach Shivers take over…

Cody… 7 of 14 tonight

You didn’t watch the game, clearly. He looked great out there, threw for a touchdown and did very well barring a couple of errant passes.

Stats don’t tell the whole story.

Youll see in a few weeks when he’s underthrowing wide open recievers by 10 yards

That just depends if Montreal has an offensive line to protect him for more than 1 second or not. Some of those Canadian guards on the sask online were pretty weak.

I agree, to a large extent Fajardo was a scapegoat. Also agree that Dickenson lacks what it takes to be an effective HC… In my view he’ll never fully earn the respect of players with his aw shucks personality.

I thought he looked good as well – half of those incompletions were on his receivers IMO.
Overall, if Fajardo is given adequate protection I think Als fans will be happy with him. Just keep him away from social media cuz he’s a tad sensitive.

if he has the time to throw the ball and not lying flat on his back due to a poor O-line. Plus, maybe Mass won’t throw him under the bus like Craig Dickenson did.

Oh definately, he was seeing ghosts, and who wouldn’t be after watching the 3 man rush crush through 5 o linemen, I sure hope none of those linemen are back in sask.

great? I guess that’s who you are comparing it to. great…was not a term I would have used to describe Fajardo in the last game against the Cats.

guess it’s all in the expectations.

This thread seems pretty funny. Craig did not run the O. lol. That’s hilarious. He couldn’t even if he wanted.

And Fajardo sucked. He was horrible. He connected in a couple good ones this first week. But he made a solid Oline look like crap - again. The dude stared for. Receivers again. And can’t read a D or see a blitz coming if his life depended on it. Good thing Montreal was playing Ottawa. Who will be horrible this year. It’s early and name recognition is tough week one. But they look BAD. And Fajardo still
Struggled.

Funny thread.

Dreegking You must be Craig Dickenson’s relative to come up with a statement like that. Dickenson is the head coach so the majority of the decisions run through him. He is nothing short of being a bad coach and should be in marketing with his “sunny ways” comments about dealing with discipline for example. He can’t make the hard decisions and this results in just irritating the players.

You think Harris is the answer, wait until past the mid point in the season and your criticisms of Fajardo will come tumbling down on T. H. Roughrider fans love to rail on the quarterback.

Funny analogy?

I have no doubt the criticism will start on t.h. Soon. The fans will find some reason to chase him away.
