Could Mitchell sign with a CFL team other than Calgary?

…its for this guy:

So apparently the Argos are preparing a contract offer for Bo Levi Mitchell that would see him earn $750 K a season to wear the double blue. The contract would be even larger than Reilly’s reported deal with the Lions.

Also, if true, great to see MLSE going all out and flexing its financial muscle to try land this guy for the fan base.

No matter what this is the most exciting free agency period in the history of the league. Really boosts the leagues profile in the offseason, and keeps it in the news.

Even as a Rider fan, I would like Bo to stay in Calgary. Its always fun when the Riders play against him.

However, if Bo signs with the Argos, why do I have a feeling that the day they introduce him, or shortly after, either the Leafs will have a Big announcement or Blue Jays or even the Raptors to completely kill any media coverage or attention that the Argos would get.

You do know that the Argos are now owned by the same company that owns the Leafs and Raptors, right?

Man I didn’t, nice piece of info for the uninformed…can anyone spell “monopoly”

I don’t think Bo is going anywhere but for a rare occasion Huff will bleed…

Yes if he stays, it will cost upward of $750k.

…no way huf matches toronto’s offer…he’ll put 2yrs@$650K + 2yrs@$700K on the table and then show Bo the Stamps roster and the Argos roster and won’t say another word…Bo’s agent will counter with “c’mon man, look what Reilly got”…they’ll settle for something similar and shake hands…

BREAKING: Bo Levi Mitchell will resign with #Stampeders. @CFLonTSN
12:18 PM - 12 Feb 2019

As it should be.

…YIPPY KI YAY!!! remains a stampeder…

Looking forward to hearing the terms of the deal.

Would have loved to see him in the double blue, staying with the Stamps is the best move.

You have to believe if Reilly got $725k then BLM will not go below and in fact higher at $750k?

Terms of the deal (reportedly)

The deal makes Mitchell the second highest paid player in the CFL after Mike Reilly.

His salary will see an increase in salary for each of the years: $675,000, $695,000, $705,000 and $725,000 over the term of the contract (4 years).

Mitchell returned to the Stamps and declined larger offers from both Saskatchewan and Toronto.
The Argos apparently offered a deal worth $750K per which would have made him the highest paid player in the league. The Stamps raised the dollar amount on Tuesday to combat the Argo offer.
Ultimately, Mitchell chose to stay in the established winning environment with the Stamps.

This guy has now attained god like status in Calgary. A player who could have gotten more on the open market, but chose to stay in Calgary. A likeable player before, just might have ensured he retires the greatest QB in Stamps history.

Not to mention he spurned NFL offers to return to the CFL. That in itself boosts his image in the city. i.e. a guy you could have gone to the NFL, but chose to stay in the CFL. That will play large in the casual football or sports fan who perceives the CFL as an inferior league. It might them tuning into a broadcast or attending a game in person.

What a day for Mitchell, the Stamps, and their fanbase.

I am surprised he took that much of a home town discount.

I wonder what term were the Argos offering. Guessing it would be 4 years too.

Means he’d have to take fourth billing behind the Leafs, Raptors and even TFC.

I’m glad he remains a Stamp. But I am surprised the NFL did not snap him up. I stated before I thought NFL teams would be lining up for him. Guess I was mistaken. It will be interesting to hear if he got any real substantial offers. But it is good for Calgary and CFL that he remains.

I believe it was reported that he received offers from the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts, both for backup roles.

Bo likely wants a legit chance at starting. I am glad, for consistency reasons, that he is back as a Stamp.
