Costabile: My favourite defensive moments of the Eastern Final

They say defence wins championships and in the Montreal Alouettes case, it sends them to one.

This Argo in this photo should of been given the rock on those 2 third down attempts in the first half even though Cameron Dukes did an admirable job in the 2023 season :slightly_smiling_face:. Let’s blame it on Lucky 7 for the Als :100: :canada: :football: :bangbang:

Wasn’t it Kelly on both those tries??

Yes it was Chad Kelly on “both those tries” Why did the coach not discuss the options they had. In my opinion it was Chad Kelly trying to do too much after that terrible and spectacular 102 yard "PICK-SIX’ :bangbang:

I agree on the fact Chad Kelly tried to do too much. And, coach should not have let Kelly try those 3rd and short. Especially after the first one was stopped. I also think that putting Dukes in for a couple of plays, when Kelly was giving the ball away, might have let Kelly look at things from the sidelines and get a different view of things.

If you were surprised at Montreal’s win over Toronto, I guess you haven’t been watching Alouettes games in the past month and a half. I will admit that I was surprised by the overwhelming margin of victory, but not at all by the performance or by the Win. Shawn the Lemonator, Darnell Sankey, Marc Antoine DeQuoy, Kabion Ento and James Letcher Jr. did what they have been doing for awhile now. I think what I admired most about Montreal’s win were 3 things…their hustle, their determination and their perseverance! In the CFL, all the players are highly skilled but Montreal played like a cohesive team, they were determined to win, and they did not take their foot of the gas pedal for even a moment. That’s what it takes to win championships. It was great to see Montreal answer for everything Toronto accomplished. Toronto takes the opening drive down to the Montreal 9 yard line and then Marc Antoine DeQuoy takes it back for a pick-6. Toronto scores and then James Letcher Jr. returns the kickoff 104 yards in response.
I think it’s wonderful that even TSN’s pre-game show spent most of their time talking about Chad Kelly’s great season (which it truly was!) because being the underdog in any CFL game is the best place to be. Everyone says you don’t have a chance. Beautiful!! That’s what motivates the team to prove everyone wrong!! That’s what drives the Alouettes to victory. I look forward to the coming week, when everyone will be talking about Winnipeg’s Dynasty!! I think that’s great and I agree that Winnipeg is an impressive team. I think the Grey Cup game will be a phenomenal football game and a very competitive match but I have confidence that Montreal will be right in the game to the end and I believe, that as a team, the Alouettes are very capable of winning on Sunday. The more people say the Als don’t have a chance…the better. Don’t forget…this is Canadian Football! Every team has a chance to win on any given day! This will be a great Grey Cup game!!!
