Nice that they are digitizing the documents collection from what I was reading, it will allow more researchers access from off site. I know this was a huge project for the Vatican, very old documents there that could not be accessed and could be lost forever with degradation. Takes money though to do this. Was reading that as recently as 1993, two-thirds of the Vat’s holdings had still not even been catalogued.

(note: not pushing religion here, simply trying to show the importance of digitization of old documents and how much of a huge task it is to do these projects)

The National Film Board has been digitizing their archives lately too. Courtesy of somebody in the CFL Talk forum, I learned about this video about the Eskimos from way back when.
