He would say that he came here and turned around our franchise. Again. ;D
Argos are desperate for a win - We are definitely NOT! ;D
That being said I still like Collaros and wish him some success - except against us of course! It is a risky move due to his concussion history but it does get him back “home” with his new wife.
RE: QB injuries - Seems to me several years ago there was a rash of QB injuries - maybe as long ago as 2012 or 2013 when Hank was with the Ticats. He was one of the few NOT injured or out for a few games. However I don’t recall another team that has lost their starting QB TWICE to season ending injury aside from the Ticats. Montreal lost AC in 2013 to an injury that led him to retire and the same with TO last year losing Ray but both QBs were at the end of their careers. Not so with Masoli.
We’re not desperate but a win against Sask is still important. A win for the Cats would help build confidence within the team that Evans can do the job.
Well our team needs turning around after a 6-12 & 8-10 seasons. We definitely need someone like Hank or Masolli.
I think with Argos signing Collaros and Bear Woods means the Argos will need to dump some salary.
My feeling is that the offensive co-ordinator and head Coach Chamblin are the problem with the Argos offence. I think Bethel-Thompson and Janes Franklin looked horrible this year under Chapdelaines offence and have shown much better last year.
I think Collaros is not much better than these guys mostly due to his reduced mobility from his leg injury and his tentative play after so many concusions.
My hope is that Bear Woods is replacing Micawe Awe at MLB and that his signing relates to Micawe and Franklin being traded to the Ticats as Awe is best suited to play MLB where Bear Woods plays.I doubt they will move Awe to Wil but it’s possible .
I could see us giving the Argos some help on the Dline maybe DT Dean, or DE Mauldin , or national DE Westerman and likely Tuggle or Beverrette to play Wil for them and maybe a db like Tevin Mitchell or Richard Leonard and one of Atkin or Tucker. Some of these guys for Micawe Awe, Franklin and maybe Wilder but unlikely and jmaybe another asset.
Something sure could be brewing as the Argos have two good MLB’s now and too many high priced QB’s.
I still would love to see the cats sign Terrel Sutton if they don’t get Wilder. I think Burks is showing the Argos he could be their man.
Micawe Awe would be a huge puckup at mlb and huge upgrade over Tuggle.
Franklin was very highly touted in Edmonton as a backup QB to Reilly. He is still young and athletic and has enough talent and upside to succeed in Condells offence with a great receiving corps. Franklin could be a good insurance policy for Evans. I hope the cats don’t sign or trade for Bethel-Thompson as he has been an interception machine and I can’t see any team bringing him in .
I am not a big fan of Watford and Bridge or Franklin have bigger upside.
should be interesting to see how this plays out.
Hi Palmer and Ex Pat.
just curious who you think my Argo wishes are ?
Micawe Awe ?
James Wilder ?
James Franklin ?
Micawe is by far my preference.
What say you ?
I think that yer Argo wishes are we should just trade our entire roster to Toronto for their entire roster , even up . While we’re at it maybe we can somehow trade Head Coaches as well even up . : ??? ;D
I was just thinking of your past posts, and the players you were hoping to see in Hamilton. You pretty well summed it up in your latest one. I think, barring injury, the Cats are happy with our line-up, and doubt they would offer much to Toronto in a trade. Players on out right releases might be different.
Well in my case, there was a pretty big hint in the fact that I linked to a Bear Woods story.
From what I read about the deal Collaros signed with SSK, and the money he got up front, the Argos will be paying him likely around 80 and, certainly no more than 100K, to finish out this season, even if he does play soon, completes the schedule, and earns any bonus dollars called for in his contract. In their situation, I’d say it’s worth taking the chance. But, in Collaros’ situation, not so.
I don’t think Collaros had much of a say in the trade. I suppose he could decline to report, but that would presumably mean the end of his playing career. Given that he still seems determined to play, he needs to make the best of this if he has any hopes of being on a team in 2020.
I would be mortified if I was Collaros and had to play behind that offensive line. Very real chance of a serious injury here.
Check out the latest 3Down isssue. There is a Q and A with Jeremy O’Day, the GM of the Green team. He goes into all the details re the Collaros trade with the Blue team.
He says Collaros has no effects from his concussion now…and is ready to play.
Riders GM Jeremy O’Day breaks down the Zach Collaros trade
This was my favourite quote from the article:
Q: Did you gamble on re-signing Collaros in free agency due to his concussion history?O’Day: We knew the risks that were involved with signing Zach back. We certainly didn’t expect it to happen a play or two into the season. It happened a little bit sooner than we anticipated. Unfortunately it did happen and allowed a guy his opportunity to come in and play.
I wonder when they anticipated he would get hurt?
What an odd thing for a GM to say.
Throw in some grey cups!
;D
Argos well on their way to another skunking. Tons of pressure on MBT
Well Bobo , your wit and humour is off the charts. There really isn’ t any other Argos that I’d be interested in as an upgrade for the ticats as SJ Green is at the end of his career and payed well and Derel Walker is great but we can’t afford him.
Not correct!
We can afford Walker. Masoli is on the IR
