Collaros suspended one game for failure to respond to CCES officials for drug test

IMO 22/23 brilliant, scary defence was their best asset. 2024 their age showed. And this off season they didn’t get better they arguable got worse. I’m not writing the bombers off but I don’t see them being a powerhouse. I’m not a naysayer.

I’m not fixated on youth. I’m a realist. We have Harris who was also a great qb but never achieved what Zach did. His best years are well behind him too. I’ve always liked Zach and I dont say anything against him because he’s a bomber or “not a rider”. But making an honest observation, bomber fans have been more to the side of “can see nothing wrong” with their teams and players. That’s come from success but you should still be logical otherwise you sound like a homer. And on this forum the amount of “Zach can do no wrong” homers tips the scale. I’ll admit it again though I went back one too many years in my first statement.

Time catches up to every player eventually, that is why father time is batting a thousand. Collaros is at the end of his career, whether that is this year or next year or the one after will depend on his performance. The Bombers need to plan for the future at QB which is why I feel that Streveler won’t make the team this year. I’m sure I am in the minority amongst Bomber fans but I believe they go with Wilson and Patterson as back ups this year.

Really??? How many times a year do you see your doctor?? I see him annually & if he’s calling me I wouldn’t necessarily recognize his number w/o an identifier but would check out who’s calling. I would assume it is urgent enough for him to try to get hold of me.

I actually haven’t seen almost any Bomber fan take a “can see nothing wrong” with their team approach. I certainly never have. And yes Zach is nearing the end of his career. We all know that. It doesn’t mean he is finished just yet though.

Don’t mistake Bomber fans defending unwarranted trolling and assaults on their team and QB as taking the position “can see nothing wrong”. This thread is a perfect example where an issue about the CFL’s testing protocols has turned into a let’s run down the Bombers out of jealousy operation once again. We are defending that. I have said nothing about the Bomber’s chances of success this year other than a month ago saying I will reserve judgement until I see some actual game action. I sure hope they win. Will they? No idea.

If you haven’t noticed there are two Bomber trolls infesting this thread with arguably off topic posts about how poor the Bombers are going to be , how 5 Grey Cup trips in a row is surely the sign of a loser, etc. All that is happening is that the Bombers are being defended. Thus isn’t the first time these same two posters have jumped on any opportunity to run down the Bombers, one of whom refuses to say which team he supports and the other of whom thinks his team tgat has been to one GC game in the last 15 years or so is the best at everything. And that PED use and degenerate gambling by a player on his team should be overlooked. I don’t put you in the anti Bomber category. Criticism of any team is valid, it’s just the off topic orchestrated attacks once there is a crack in the door in a general thread that bother some of us Bomber supporters.

Yes, Mr. Obvious. The point is IF you get to the GC’s 3 times in a row & lose them all, then that’s a feat that puts you in a category that may make you a great divisional champion but a whole different category for championship runs. I’m not comparing them to some other team who had 3 consecutive losing efforts. I’m commenting on the Bombers run. BTW, don’t mind the Riders but no, not my team.

Well for someone important like my doctor I do this thing with my phone called “add to contacts” It’s quite handy in identifying important phone calls. I suggest you give it a try.

Whether or not you think the CCES rule is reasonable is irrelevant. The fact is, Zach knew the rules and didn’t follow them. There isn’t one rule for your favourite player and one rule for everyone else. He got off lightly with just one game.

Move on.

So if they’re is only one rule and one rule only for everyone regardless of infraction just curious but how would you feel if this happened to a player on maybe another team ? A team like , oh I don’t know…perhaps Montreal for example ?

You forgot that if there isn’t a “no gambling on your own team” sign posted in the Montreal locker room then no foul.

Good read here by the local paper

I can honestly say if this was a Ticats player I’d be saying the same thing.

He admitted he doesn’t pay attention to his beginning of the season training, admitted that he doesn’t check his phone that often, etc.

Two things can be true:

It’s stupid that the rule doesn’t allow for the team or a designate to be contacted

AND

Collaros is a grown adult, team captain and Quarterback (smartest guy on the field). He needs to be prepared and deserves punishment.

CCES can’t determine who means to dodge a drug test and who doesn’t.

Our whole back & forth stems from this post, which I took offense to:
“Look I just boasted about many positives of the Bombers. Zach hasn’t been one of them for 3 years, That’s all.”
To think Zach hasn’t been a positive to the team in the past 3 years is simply ridiculous. Good on you for retracting it by one year, but it’s still silly to think he wasn’t a positive to the team EVEN LAST YEAR.

I’m a diehard Bomber fan, no doubt. I try to not be biased though, and I’m always logical. What you said was logically wrong - full stop.
I have no issue with any fan saying he’s not his top self anymore, last year many of us Bomber fans voiced our displeasure of his performances, but there were still VG games from him as well. I’m sure we’ll continue to see that this year again, and it will likely be his last. We just hope he can get us to 6 straight, and go out a Champ. And we have as good a chance as any other team.

Oh I guarantee there’d be a few posters that certainly wouldn’t move on.
For the record, I stated my stance right away - I do want to move on.

Is he juicing? Not likely. Did he dodge these nuisance calls? Probably. They should have left it a two games and not buckled.

Well, there you go. Something Mr. Collaros could very well do to prevent further miscommunications so he would have that annoying “unknown” listed # in his contacts identified. Same sorta check I already do if an unknown # happens to be from my doctor.

So what are we discussing? I amended my statement and we have different opinions. I’m also one of the only posters here who is objective about other teams including my own. Ok Ill never say anything good about Calgary (spit). But I give bombers a ton of credit and I consistently point out the flaws with the riders. I see little of that happening here from others.

I dunno - I think everyone can point out flaws with the Riders

I find it hilarious that a player gets contacted 4 times within 2 hours. If he was busy at the start of that 2 hour window he probably still is a few hours later.
Extremely ironic is a government agency expecting a response within 24 hours. If they would only do the same for us…right, CRA???
