Coach's new mantra for 2011 season

Alouettes head coach Marc Trestman was reluctant to be pinned down on his new mantra for the 2011 season, but more than one player was happy to share it with CJAD 800: The Pursuit will be the Reward.

Josh Bourke says it means every player will bust their ass each day, and the Als know they are being pursued by everyone else in the league after winning back to back Grey Cups.

Als players also have been given thick binders with team rules, regs and plays of course, with a title "Rebuilding our Team." Depicted on the front is BC Place Stadium, the home of Grey Cup 2011.

From CJAD

To recap Trestman's mantras:

2008: Everything Matters
2009: Win The Day; 57+3
2010: This Is It
2011: The Pursuit Will Be The Reward

Not a 100 percent but I think you mixed some up :expressionless:

One of a coachs toughest tasks is continuing to get the message across without players starting to tune him out. Time flies and its already the coach`s 4th year.

I asked Trestman last year at his book signing about this, and he said he counted on veteran players to carry the message across the board. We lost a few through attrition this year, hopefully the others can carry the torch.

Nope, I didn't. Glen Suitor mixed it up during last year's Grey Cup game, erroneously stating that the 2009 theme was Everything Matters which in fact was the 2008 theme.

And has everyone forgotten that "Stay the Course" was actually the original the 2010 mantra?
Until (I imagine) someone pointed out to Trestman that is had some rather undesirable "associations"

:cowboy:

Are you being serious or facetious? Because I actually didn't know that.

Seriously...that was what the mantra was...but just like this year Trestman didn't want to reveal it.
I believe I first heard it on CJAD
I'm sure more than one person here can remember it
But the whole thing just evaporated when the mantra was changed

First sentence

Another one for the "memory hole"

I sure am glad they changed that slogan.
