Climbin'n'Strollin' Cancer Fighters

"Cancer doesn't stop when it rains and neither do we!"
Well it was with saturated clothing and proud hearts the CFL Fans Fight Cancer (CFLFFC) kicked off our 2011 cancer awareness season. Our stair climbers and 5 km walkers spent either an hour climbing the Chedoke stairs or walking the Rail Trail route after raising a team best $5500 in pledges for the Climb for Cancer supporting the Juravinski Cancer Centre.

To add to this cool day the soggy participants had healthy appetites, stepping up to CFLFFC Tailgate BBQ and enjoyed some Wally Parr Sausages and hot dogs. Our fellow cancer fighting climbers helped us raise and additional $325 for the Climb.

While the turn out was low because of the weather, it didn't dampen the spirits of those who came out. Pigskin Pete was spinning the tunes, and Yannick Carter and the rest of the Ticats who came out set the pace on the stairs. While we didn't keep up to the pro's, the CFLFFC team set personal bests and the first timers set new benchmarks to strive for next year.

Every year the Climb get bigger and better, I hope more of the CFL Fan community comes out next year and joins in a great day with great people!

We're just getting started! Stop by the CFL Fans Fight Cancer tailgate in Scott Park this season and enjoy a Wally Parr sausage for a donation to Wellwood Cancer Support Centre. If you missed out on getting a charity Ticat scarf, wait til you see this years! There's also another piece of merchendise being discussed that we're hoping of you will like. Yes the scarves are back and so is our dedication to helping Hamilton.

On behalf of everyone at CFL Fans Fight Cancer, thank you to everyone for supporting our efforts and support your fellow Hamiltonians and the institutions that are addressing the terrible disease!

See you in the stands!
