so who is going to watch some Junior Football games this season?
if you are a football fan and haven't been to a junior football game and there are teams in your vicinity, i recommend you go. it is a great experience and the quality of play is excellent and getting better. supporting grassroots football initiatives only grows the game upwards. some great CFL players have come up through the CJFL system. the atmosphere is awesome and it's fun. my son went through the local minor and junior football system and loved it (preferred it to hockey and soccer).
I've never actually been to a CJFL game, and, as I'll soon be leaving for overseas, I'm kicking myself for missing out on some Sooners action last year. They play their home games only about a 10-15 minute drive from my place.
it’s really good football. in some ways i prefer it to USports. the Westshore Rebels and Van Isle Raiders have a pretty serious rivalry. lol i can hear the games from my backyard. Starlight Stadium is pretty awesome though. it’s situated between two local lakes so it’s in a nice spot, great for pre-game picnics or tailgating.
I think there's some univerisity teams, but not many. I might have to look into it after I get there.
But I think the use amateur rules with tiny fields and an extra down.
The timing of most CFL games works well for me over, getting to watch in the mornings or early afternoon (for Lions home games). I usually miss the Labour Day games, though, as they're on too early.
saw some players out training early this morning. they were doing cone drills or whatever their called. love the atmosphere of spring training camp being around the corner. when training camp starts, i'll go picnic by the field and take some pics for here.
